I'm pretty sure they meant as in star power. P!nk sells albums but she doesn't have a huge stan base nor is she featured much in magazines or talked about a ton. People just know who she is & like her songs which is kinda the same for Ke$ha & other artists like Kelly Clarkson.

However, I do think she's still considered a major pop girl. She's obviously on the lower end of the spectrum but she's in no way irrelevant. Everyone knows who Ke$ha is or a song she sings. Even after an underperforming era, she covered headlines & made news reports about checking into rehab.. and topped the charts with Pitbull.

Also, the fact that radio jumped on Die Young immediately after being released (following a 2 year hiatus) shows that she has power like major pop girls. If she didn't, she would've been forgotten after her extensive break. If she releases her next lead single & it bombs, then we can debate about weather she's still a major pop girl or not.

She doesn't do so well with tours but then again ke$ha doesn't seem to promote her tour like other major artist do like posters! TV ads or like Magazine Cover so it's that she can't sell out arena/stadiums it's that she doesn't promote it like other do
