It's clear that people lack knowledge, perspective and understanding of context. Janet has a career that spans three decades. Britney's has yet to span two full decades. Thus, she's a LOT earlier in her career, hence why her name is more mentioned. That is not the SAME as being more "remembered". Usually, the older a person gets in Hollywood, the less they get talked about, unless they're doing something noteworthy (whether good or bad) in their public life and/or profession.
Towards the end of her life, was Elizabeth Taylor as talked about as younger actresses? No, but she is REMEMBERED because of her legacy. Her place in history is set.
Janet's legacy is FAR greater than Britney's and when all is said and done, her place in history will be more significant.
Stop equating what's happening in your generation as the definition for what will happen in the future, especially when many artists were before your generation and doing greater things than those happening now.

Britney, I love Janet but lbr she's completely forgotten.
not to mention that Britney's career is already more impressive than Janet's ever was & in the long run Britney's mark will be significantly bigger than Janet's.

They're ignorant to music before the year 2000, don't even waste your breath. Just give them the satisfaction that Britney is actually an artist.

Britney.
Janet's legacy is extremely overrated on here. I didn't even know she was successful before I joined this site.
Janet is the better artist though.

Listen. I don't even like Britney, but sadly she has a bigger legacy than Janet. Nothing we can do about it...

Janet paved the way for Britney. Everything Britney did JANET did before. Educated yourself. What legacy does Britney have? She was pretty, blonde and white. And because of that sold a lot. That's where it ends.

What do you define as 'legacy'? People talking about a subject? Yes, then Britney's 'legacy' is bigger than Janet's.
My definition of legacy is what will remain, their contribution to the industry. Impactnet has defined a way of performing, she was singing about feminism with Madonna long ago, she showed popstars that they could thrive without showing any skin, she popularized a musical genre, she redefined how songs are structured and she redefined dance on Music videos ( dance breaks are a Janet thing! To this day people add them to songs - even "Work Bitch" has a break. And even Michael took notes - just watch how the "Bad" video looks like "Nasty"), she popularized Intros and Interludes... I could keep telling y'all how much Janet has changed the game, and y'all still keep acting like she doesn't have a legacy.
So I'm curious to read why Britney's legacy is bigger than Janet's. I don't see Britney on other people as much as other artists inspired theirselves on Janet - mainly Britney herself.

She wasnt big in my country. I didnt even know about her till i entered these pop forums where everyone mentioned her, and i only became interested cause she had Michael´s last name. She was such a non-event in my country, nobody has the obligation to know her just because she was big in the other extreme of the continent

You're still ignorant about the facts. Chill. I never said you had to know.
However, we need to be educated before saying "Janet this, Janet that". Her being a nonfactor in God-knows-where does not change her impact.

I never said it changed anything, but you all are acting like Janet is that big icon whose success has to be universally acknowledged or either way you are delusional and ignorant
They are both almost on the same level, but from MY perspective Britney will be more remembered, because in my geographic space where all my friends live as well, Britney happened and Janet didnt. It is maybe the same for Britney in some other country, neither of them are universal like Madonna or MJ, but I (being I a key word since this is a thread asking for an opinion) think Britney will be more remembered.
