I would say it did flop. Let's face it. The bar for katy is higher for a reason. More money, promo, etc, is pumped into the promotional vehicle than on say, a song like "sweater weather".

I also think that became it's only the 2nd single of the Prism era, it's more disappointing to hit a bump in the road so soon.

Unconditionally is a good song. I admitted before, but it's a fact that picked at 14 in US charts with all that promo. So it's a flop. KP had a flop. Let's move on.

It probably does suck for your favorite song to flop and it her label will probably be more reluctant in the future when it comes to allowing her to choose.

No. Dark Horse is perfect for the radio. I don't understand why she was so reluctant to release it earlier. I suspect she wanted this era to be more mature, yet the GP continues to want the opposite.

I would argue that "dark horse" is actually a mature sound. It's just a different kind of mature than "uncond".

I would also argue that DH does better for the "mature" brand than the previous single. For one, it will garner more widespread exposure for people to hear the record.
