Crooked Smile is a great song and good message behind the song as well. Though I may prefer other songs on the album.

JEIBERT'S BEST OF 2013
ALBUMS
#58
LADY ANTEBELLUM - 'Golden'
 | RELEASED:May 7, 2013
GENRE: Country
LABEL: Capitol Nashville
PRODUCER: Paul Worley, Lady Antebellum
FAVORITES:
❤❤❤❤ "Downtown"
❤❤❤ "Goodbye Town" ; "All for Love" ; "Golden"
⚫ Among their past albums, this was probably my least favorite and least played one! I was slayed by the plain and simple, yet effectively catchy lead single "Downtown" but that was it! The album had same undertones of such love themes and having the same melodies makes it kinda boring! But overall, they did well but I guess the charts/sales speak as some factor for the album itself this time.
2011: Mirandan Lambert - "Four the Record"
2012: Monica - "New Life" |
#57
DRAKE - 'Nothing Was The Same'
 | RELEASED:September 20, 2013
GENRE: Hip hop
LABEL: OVO Sound, Young Money, Cash Money, Republic
PRODUCER: Aubrey "Drake" Graham (exec.), Brian "Baby Birdman" Williams (exec.), Noah "40" Shebib (also exec.), Ronald "Slim" Williams (exec.), Allen Ritter, Boi-1da, Chilly Gonzales, Detail, DJ Dahi, Hudson Mohawke, Jake One, Jordan Evans, Key Wane, Majid Jordan, Mike Zombie, Nineteen85, Sampha, Vinylz
FAVORITES:
❤❤❤❤❤ "Hold On, We're Going Home" (ft. Majid Jordan)
❤❤❤ "All Me" (ft. Big Sean and 2 Chainz) ; "From Time" (ft. Jhené Aiko)
⚫ Just like the album listed above, I've had this same situation with this! Of this being the least played / disliked album by Drake! While I commend the style and direction, overall its lacking something and that makes the album boring! Great collaborations though and his vocal and rapping skills quite deliver! yet, I probably just prefer his previous two predecessor albums, and that's why Drake made the list but for a low position like this!
2011: Lady Antebellum - "Own the Night"
2012: Frank Ocean - "Channel Orange" |
RECAP:
65. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's - 'Mosquito' | 64. Jessie J - 'Alive' | 63. Empire of the Sun - 'Ice on the Dune' | 62. Eve - 'Lip Lock' | 61. Kings of Leon - 'Mechanical Bull' | 60. Laura Mvula - 'Sing to the Moon' | 59. Cassadee Pope - 'Frame by Frame' |
SINGLES
#110
ICONA POP - "All Night"
 | "...And it feels like...we could do this all night...We could do this all night!...We could do this all night....Yeah everything is alright..."
ALBUM: Born Sinner
RELEASED DATE: July 23, 2013
GENRE: Electropop
LENGTH: 3:06
LABEL: Big Beat
WRITER(S): Aino Jawo, Brian Lee, Caroline Hjelt, Elof Loelv, Jonathan Sloan, Luke Steele, Nick Littlemore
PRODUCER(S): Brian Lee, Elof Loelv
WEEKS ON CHART: 7 weeks (still charting)
PEAK POSITION: #06
⚫ I maybe in the minority, I prefer this song much much much more! than "I Love It". Definitely that one is very clicked and catered for the masses of its catchiness and appeal but "All Night" has something that makes me prefer it over! It has the same vibe of the lead single, but definitely less formulaic, less repetitive but the harmonizing/chanting and the non-dizzy production makes it less annoying!
2011: Kanye West - "All of the Lights" (feat. Rihanna)
2012: Conor Maynard - "Vegas Girl" |
#109
BIRDY - "Light Me Up"
 | "...You light me up, When all I see is darkness...You light me up, When I'm down...And if I fall apart...You know where to find my pieces...When they gon' be found..."
ALBUM: Fire Within
RELEASED DATE:
GENRE: Indie folk, indie pop, pop rock
LENGTH: 4:15
LABEL: 14th Floor, Atlantic (Warner)
WRITER(S): Jasmine Van Den Bogaerde, Trey Starxx & Tom Hull
PRODUCER(S): Rich Costey
WEEKS ON CHART: 4 weeks (still charting)
PEAK POSITION: #01 (1 week)
⚫ Yess! For me, this is the HIGHLIGHT off the album! I didn't KNEW how Birdy can give me much life on an uptempo song! I keep on thinking! Tweet tweet here comes boring Birdy chirping slow ballads! but yet she shows her fire within indeed through the powerful drumming beat of "Light Me Up". The message screams positivity, and never fails me to put me in a good mood! And yes! the back-up choir gives me so much life on the "find my pieces" part! Such hair raising moment!
2011: Katy Perry - "The One That Got Away"
2012: Amelia Lily - "You Bring Me Joy" |
#108
OLLY MURS - "Troublemaker" (feat. Flo Rida)
 | "...Why does it feel so good but hurt so bad, oh oh oh?..My mind keeps saying,"Run as fast as you can."...I say, "I'm done," but then you pull me back, oh oh oh....I swear you're giving me a heart attack, Troublemaker!...."
ALBUM: Right Place Right Time
RELEASED DATE: October 12, 2012
GENRE: Pop
LENGTH: 3:03
LABEL: Epic ; Syco
WRITER(S): Olly Murs ; Steve Robson ; Claude Kelly ; Tramar Dillard
PRODUCER(S): S teve Robson
WEEKS ON CHART: 8 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #10
⚫ Definitely reminds me so much of Maroon 5's "Misery" song! I dislike Olly and his singles but the catchiness of this one is just infectious that it kinda made me like the song more and more! I really thought this would be his catapult song for crossover in America but yet it failed to do some major damage despite having rapper Flo Rida in the track. Now, it's just a cute single and definitely "my moment" with Olly whom I was never a fan to begin with!
2011: Katy B - "Witches' Brew"
2012: Cover Drive - "Sparks" |
RECAP:
125. Tegan and Sara - 'I Was a Fool' | 124. Avril Lavigne - "Let Me Go" (feat. Chad Kroeger) | 123. HAIM - "Don't Save Me"
