not really messy, they're doing that to support the album more then the single itself but regardless I think the single will be fine

yea i agree. everything is really awesome and exciting. and shes absolutely slaying i do think theyre more focused on the whole record though versus individual singles

Releasing the single when the album comes out is a smart move for album sales.

The sales would be held back for roughly a week after it's been released to radio. I doubt her sales will be affected that much.

It's not messy. Next week is perfect for the 2nd single. They know this is the #1 smash on the album so it will push sales a ton for the following week! The past 3 months has been focused on Katy and Miley and that's what capitals goal was! We have had so much anticipation building up to this! It's been 3 years since her last album! This isn't rushed imo, it's going perfectly
