8/10 when does a song retire?
|
A song retires after 65 days on the countdown if its a current single (the term is applied loosely), and after 50 days on the countdown if it is an old song (also applied loosely). I can consider songs old if the song is from an album that is not the artist's most current album. Also, if the song is from another decade, such as the 90's, 80's, etc., it is considered old. If the song is from a band that has since broken up, the song is also considered old. A "new" song can be a current single receiving consistent radio airplay or singles or songs from an artists current, newest album.
Sorry, it's a little long, but I hope this explanation cleared up any confusion that anyone might have about retirements on my countdown. Thanks for posting!
