Yeah, and some people still want to see those story-telling, "poetic", elaborated lyrics again. She said she's gone "further" with this album in that sense, but I'm sure some people will say it was David/Chad/whichever who wrote them and she didn't do much, AGAIN. They seem to want selfwritten songs with deep, elaborated lyrics, and if not then she doesn't know how to write. That's what happens when you start your career "bragging" about your songwriting

That's not much of an argument. It's very obvious that ideas were planted and certain songs were written to better brand / sell her. She's never written anything similar or in the style of My World since Let Go. Of course she had input with ideas and certain lines but this isn't something Avril would have thought of and written naturally.

I mean the titles My World and Anything But Ordinary were everywhere during Let Go's promo - whether selling her DVD or literally describing her - and yet after 2003 not one mention of them.

She's also never written anything again like "Freak Out" / "Who Knows" / "Nobody's Home", "Everything Back But You" / "I Can Do Better"... It's obvious that during her debut era she had a little more help than her other eras but I wouldn't completely discredit her hand in the success. It was her that made it happen.

I'd argue that Runaway would fit alongside the first two, and as for the second two, we've seen the same up-tempo snottiness in songs like Take It and I Always Get What I Want. I'm not trying to discredit her, just saying that she was probably nudged into a certain direction with certain songs on her first album, and maybe had her hand held while writing them. Avril worked hard and sacrificed a lot and she definitely played a large part in her initial success, there's no doubt there. But there's a reason we haven't seen a lot of Let Go standard material since 2002.

I still don't think Let Go is really that non-Avril, and I do think we've seen similarities throughout her discography. I think because it's the oldest it might appear that way, but I honestly think her other 3 albums are more diverse. When TBDT came out everyone was freaking out that it didn't sound like/seem like Avril.

Sure we've seen similarities. A majority of the songs sound like Avril played a large part in their creation. I'm just saying that in comparison she had a lot less input. It's not a bad thing, that's usually the case with most debut albums. The issue is when fans don't recognize it and wonder why Avril isn't still spouting words from the dictionary à la the bridge of "Anything But Ordinary". As for TBDT, a lot of the songs were like most of her past uptempo tracks - even the critics said it was an album chock-full of "Sk8r Boi"s and "He Wasn't"s. It was just sassier and girlier so people were thrown.
