Back when the constitution was written it was mostly directed at preventing tyranny by military bodies. Now that we're more stable, the law has probably remained to allow regular people to protect themselves against criminals who'll get guns whether or not it's harder to get or illegal all together. |
Yes, but times have changed. Guns are no longer protecting us, they're killing us. It is so easy for a mentally unstable person to get ahold of a gun (LEGALLY!), and carry out a massacre like this. Why are we even selling military grade weapons to everyday people? What could you possibly need an AK-47 for? Something needs to change.
We have no problem throwing marijuana users in prison for ridiculously large amounts of time, so why not gun owners? At least owners of certain types of guns? There's nothing wrong with a little hand gun, as you wouldn't be able to kill this many people with one, but an assault rifle?
