the question is if Rihanna/Ke$ha/Christina will have enough streaming support, though. seems like it's only been a benefit for newer/alternative artists. time will tell.

I dont get what it so forgettable about a song that wasn't even promoted live and managed to (probably) get them their second number one hit of the era and (hopefully even) a #1 Billboard Hot 100 (and even if it would be just a number two as it is, still a great result).

I know you don't like this, but what Maroon 5 are achieving currently is pretty impressive.

But of course anyone has their preferences, so I shouldn't even maybe write this and I could of let go and register that under "different strokes for different folks" area...

I am just glad despite the reviews and the - undeserved - critical hate Overexposed era is already an undeniable success, given up especially that all of their sales (580,000 when tomorrow ones are in) are coming from people playing the songs to other people out of hype from hipsters and letting people like that material and buying it.

Then is this seems forgettable... well okay.

It certainly won't be for them and those enjoying their songs - which I am part of.

Except Maroon 5 were number one on On Demand with Payphone. And they aren't exactly new or alternative.

I actually like One More Night and I enjoy Maroon 5, but its just that the competition is so stacked for them to be remembered throughout the year if they hit #1 this week. I also think Hands All Over was the better album and deserved more hits from it.

Eh... radio wasn't here for it, sadly. And the label was more invested in pushing Gaga's material over everyone else signed to it, which as we have seen, pissed off a lot of artists. MIA and 50Cent being among them

I think it does help newer artists because they don't have as many songs out so people would listen to that 1 song over and over. While artists with large discographies will have their streaming points spread out on old songs as well as ther new hit, giving them less streaming

Yep. Country radio always supported even her poppiest singles (even playing songs not promoted to their format like Speak Now, Crazier, TWAFT or Eyes Open), but she abandoned them by releasing her 'pop' mix of WANEGBT as the single. She had always released the 'country' mix as the primary one and the 'pop' as a secondary mix to all other formats, but she did the opposite and she is going to miss the top ten on the country chart entirely because of it. If it weren't for hourly plays in week one I doubt it would have even entered the top 20 at this point, honestly.

He's not solely headlining the festival, though. Taylor, Rihanna, Usher, among other popular acts are "headliners" for the festival. The festival certainly may be giving some stations incentive to spin the announced performers songs, but that's not "payola" nor explains why such a made-for-radio song has been doing well the past couple weeks.
