But what did Elly and La Roux bring to the table that was new, different and/or refreshing to the pop music world?
That wanna be Tilda Swinton needs to have a seat.

People buy into her style and confuse it for substance
There's nothing deep about her, and if she had integrity she wouldn't spew offensive drivel all the time.

La Roux brings much more to the table than Carly Rae.
They make fantastic dance music.
Self-written, self-produced, different point of view, different vocal approach, 76 on Metacritic.
What does Carly bring?

I didn't say Carly Rae brought anything. That little girl is innocent as far as this issue is concerned.
My point is, La Roux brought as much refreshing sound to the pop music game as Carly Rae Jepsen has with her one hit.
Maybe they'll get along in the future when they both are celebrating their one hit wonder anniversaries.
They have more in common than Elly thinks.

Elly does have a great sense of style. And her music is substance.
Especcially compared to "Call Me Maybe". That song belongs on Disney Channel. It is childish.
It is called artistic integrity. Learn about it.
Elly used Carly as an example, but she is targeting the general idea about how music needs to improve.

Carly Rae's EP has six songs on it. One Joni Mitchell cover, four songs Carly co-wrote and one song Carly wrote on her own (does Elly Jackson have any solo writing credits?). So WHY do both you and Elly bring up songwriting as if it's something that Elly does and Carly doesn't?
What different point of view?
Different vocal approach? I guess you could call it that...

I believe the Disney channel played "Bulletproof" a few times back in the day.
Elly could've expressed her opinion without bashing one of her peers.
If "improvement" is La Roux's album, then the music industry will continue to move in the same direction it has been going.

Except "Call Me Maybe" is not refreshing. It is nothing new.
La Roux does not make mainstream music. They were lucky to get a crossover hit.

Quality music.
I never heard Elly trash talking prior to this incident.

In my opinion, "Bulletproof" is nothing new either. 80's synths with a shrill voice.
I think Elly is the pot calling the kettle black in this situation.
Carly's song is just as disposable as "Bulletproof" was, except it will probably be a bigger hit.
If she does not make mainstream music, then why is she so concerned about the status of it?

La Roux are the main writers on all of their songs. They also produce all of their songs.
Carly co-writes. Props to her...I guess.

Doubt it.
Bulletproof, first of all, is not mainstream pop. It is dance.
Secondly, it does not sound like the type of kiddy songs Disney would play.
Oh course she could have expressed her opinion without bashing anybody.
But she chose to use an easy example to express a general idea. Get over it.
As for "improvement", yes, their album is improvement. It would not have gotten critical acclaim if it wasn't quality music.

Maybe it wasn't Disney, it could've been the network Degrassi comes on, I'm not sure.
Their album showed no improvement toward the music industry. Critical acclaim will have no effect on the future of her career.

Carly has solo writing credits. I don't believe Elly does. When Carly isn't solo-writing, she's co-writing, which I believe is what Elly does.
Bulletproof is mainstream pop.
Disney playing a song is not an indicator that it is bad music.

If you like trashy music, good for you.
I am not going to try to change your opinion.

If you two cannot realize that Carly makes recyclable pop music, then I cannot help you.
We all have different tastes.
