If you're gonna argue worldwide sales, everything is included. You don't exclude anything. If a few countries have more sales, it means more people are buying, which represents more people listening, and therefore is bigger in the world.

You can have 50 countries with a population of 3,000 have her sell the most of the year in the respective country, and it wouldn't make her a bigger worldwide star than someone who sells quadruple that total in a dozen countries.

That's the brilliant thing about worldwide sales. It's not about country seclusion.

"Who is more popular in more countries?"

You don't quantify that with number of sales. Sure Rihanna could have "6 million" as you claim, but hypotehtically that could've been in half the amount of countries than Shakira's. It just means that Rihanna is more popular in select countries than Shakira. And they just happen to be ones where the markets are important.

You answer this question, simply by answering - who is more popular in more countries. And if you still decide Rihanna over Shakira, then your outlook on international stardom is seriously inhibited.

It's generally more difficult for a Spanish album to sell than an English album, the latter being more commonly accepted throughout the world. Nobody buys your bizarre rationalizing.

This poll is so unfair. Atrl only represents the English speaking segment of the population with limited international representation. Imagine if all those non english native speakers from Germany, latin america, france, italy, India, etc etc would vote! Shakira already slayed the poll but then imagine!

Also shakira writes and produces her material. Rihanna makes little off what she releases..Shakira makes more profit.
