That's my point. That was 11 years ago. Older artists have it hard because generations change, the fact that Madonna charts her 38th top 10 hit after 30 years of career is remarkable, it does not happen everyday but welp if you hate her nothing will change your point of view.

Madonna's first top 10 hit was way back in 1983. J-Lo's first hit was in 1999, Kelly's first hit was in 2002. They aren't newbies but they're not as old in the biz as Madonna.

And NO, it's not easy for older artists to make huge impact on young-driven iTunes unless they die. The force on older artists are their tours which is different.

iTunes has made it possible for pretty much anyone and any song to become a hit

True, this definitely benefits artists in the U.K, since their charts are solely based on sales (like I said in another thread, that's why sometimes you see YouTube artists in the U.K charts, and it makes a lot easier for people to chart there).

It would be great if they took into consideration of airplay too. It has it's pros and cons. Last Christmas, trolls were trying to block X Factor winners Little Mix from the Christmas #1 in the U.K with this song:
