Was just listening to the album for the first time earlier this week. I thought it was a good album. Perhaps after a few more listens I'll get a better feel for it.

Britney Spears - Femme Fatale

Probably the BIGGEST surprise is that this ISN'T #1 on my list, being the HUGE Britney fan that I am. It's a fantastic dance album, but there is SO much more to it than that. When Britney talked about the album before it leaked, she said it was her most mature, so I think people thought it was going to be "deep" & "meaningful". So I think people got upset that it wasnt that. I see it mature as far as the sexual nature. Most young people don't they're comfort levels with both relationships & sex, and still get shy or confused, but this album is about KNOWING you comforts, being in control of your relationship, calling the shots on what YOU like. Britney's the one hitting on the guys (Hold It Against Me), revealing her ambitions (I Wanna Go), knowing WHAT SHE WANTS Drop Dead (Beautiful)/Criminal. While I still prefer In The Zone & Blackout more, this is STILL a Solid Album.

The album opens with Till The World Ends. Honestly, i'm very Up and down with this song. At times I LOVE it cuz its so addicting and just makes you feel good, but at other times I feel it was WAY too safe for her. But in the end, it did it's job . Hold It Against Me is next, and this is TRUELY AMAZING. By far one of my favorites that she has ever released. I love the contrast between the hard hitting verses & softer, yet louder chorus. But I aint gonna even lie, its ALL about the BRIDGE Britney could use ANY lame pick up line, and make it sexy as hell The album slows down a bit with Inside Out. This song is just ORGASMIC!!!. The beat is so sick, and her vocals are PERFECT on this track. I know a lot of people who don't like it cuz of the lyrics, but this is also why I love it. When you've been with someone with a great sexual chemistry, its HARD to break up, and I feel this song is for THOSE people. Britney's inner ambitions come out with I Wanna Go. I think this captures Britney's TRUE secret, that she just wanna do HER THING!!!! I wasn't a fan of How I Roll AT FIRST, but it TOTALLY grew on me. I would DIE if she released it. It's just so infectious. It's again, something different for her, but she TOTALLY makes it her own. (Drop Dead) Beautiful is her ode to they beauty that is a mans....um body :P I love the instrumental, and the lyrics, the ONLY thing that takes away from the greatness of this song is Sabi's "rap". Seal It With a Kiss is her forbiden fruit song. I like the song, but she could have EASILY switched this out for one of the bonus tracks. But that dubstep bridge is You either LOVE or HATE the next song, and unfortunatly I HATE The Big Fat Bass!!! Britney makes it her own, but there is just WAY too much BEP influences on this track for me to like it. I do like the verses, cuz her voice is so haunting and seductive. I also enjoy the sexual inuendo that the song has. Dance/Rockney comes with Trouble With Me. Everytime I feel like I'm growing sick of this song, it lures me back. I Love the prechorus. Who HASNT fallin in love with someone with was Trouble for them. I adore Trip To Your Heart, with its trancy beats and Britney robo soft vocals, and if she did it on Circus I would have loved it more, but this was a step back from the GLORIOUS Unusual You. Gasoline is pure FIYAH!!! Britney could heat up ANY relationship. And my FAVORITE part od the album is when she sings "You set me on FIRE" There is something SO simple & unique with the final track, Criminal. The flute was BRILLIANT. It's sorta classic Britney (the bridge) but with a new twist. She knows that the man she loves is a Criminal, but she doesn't care, she's gonna do what SHE WANTS!!!
Then comes the Bonus'. Honestly, I have always loved her bonus tracks, but never really felt cheated that they were just bonus tracks. That changes here though. I can't that Up n Down WASNT ON THE STANDARD. It's so sexy, so simple, and such a confident Britney. Britney + Max = GREATNESS. But nothing made me more angry that HE ABOUT TO LOSE ME didnt make it. I didnt think I would like this song cuz of Rodney Jerkins. I totally though he would give her another "Telephone" sounding song, but I was SO WRONG. Cheatney is Again, it's so simple, yet sexy. I also think it's one of the more vulnerable songs on the album. I'll even go one to say that it's one of my FAVORITE Britney songs EVER!!! I think that only HIAM has more plays than HATLM. Selfish was a good track, but too similar to Only Girl. It has that haunting vibe. But I really do love the chorus I can see why Dont Keep Me Waiting didn't make it. I think if they could have re-worked the instrumental a bit, it could have worked. Scary is addicting, and I LOVE the lyrics. And again, the chorus is So much energy on this track.
So WHY DIDN'T this get #1. It was a HUGE improvement over Circus, and I love the theme. I came down to the track listing. I think if SIWAK & BBF were switched out with UnD & HATLM, then it could have been #1. I can't wait to see what Britney brings on her 8th album
Top 5 Tracks: He About To Lose Me, How I Roll, Inside Out, Hold It Against Me & Criminal

#4: *deep breath* TOOOOOORRRRRRCHHHHEEEEEEESSSSSSS!
#3: It's not going to be in my own top 15, but I can appreciate the album all the same. The singles alone make it a worthy album.
