The Greatest, Big Big Beat, Vroom Vroom
Love how every writeup about Azealiard is about her awful personality. We used to be able to kinda ignore it but now....
send my love is unexpected and dang azealia her personality, it's nice that it allows her to release these mini projects, i just wish it was more conducive to allowing her to release actual albums dammit. king and anderson too <3
Say It Took me a while to get into but I love it now
Yesss Be Alright my second favorite song on Dangerous Woman
I'm In Control, Consideration and Pillowtalk
Vroom Vroom slays Send My Love is the best song on 25 In Common
I was almost certain I commented on this update, but apparently not
Anyway, love most of these, especially UGH!, Come Down, Vroom Vroom and even The Big Big Beat. Kinda forgot that Lorely released a song this year, but it was pretty nice too. And I agree that Future is trash, but Thugger is way above him
30. Rihanna, "Work (feat. Drake)"
I told myself I wasn't going to touch this because I was over the early R8/ANTI era shenanigans. Initially I considered this one of the worst songs of 2016 and safest songs for Rih to go to especially with Drake being a feature again... and I was right about the last part. It is safe as hell for a quick little hit but this became a grower.
29. Chance The Rapper, "No Problem (feat. Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz)"
After Acid Rap who would have expected Chance to team up with 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne on a track designed for radio-play?This is such a feel good track.
28. dvsn, "Too Deep"
dvsn really held it down for R&B by making a genuine bedroom jam. This is undeniably the sexiest songs of 2016, and the female counterparts vocals and harmonies are so mesmerizing and sultry.
27. Chairlift, "Polymorphing"
This wasn't a single, but this songs blend of jazz, disco, and soul, the textures and looping/distorting of her voice rhythmically - this is such a highlight that I had to include.
26. Niki & The Dove, "So Much It Hurts"
Lead single from their forgettable sophomore album. Niki' makes a song about mourning over the loss of a temporary love a straight-up banger. This is nostalgic all around, a cross from Prince, Stevie Nicks, and Cyndi Lauper.
25. Bon Iver, "33 GOD"
Instrumentation starts off so soft with those piano keys and just explodes with thunderous drums as the song goes along. It has no chorus but "33 GOD" isn't too much of an experimental track, it's actually a straightforward song.
24. KAYTRANADA, "Got It Good (feat. Craig David)"
Who other than Craig David with his evocative and distinctive voice would suit KAYTRANADA's composition? What a comeback this was for Craig David. He really came back swinging at Jessie J's wig too #****apricetag #moneymatters.
23. NAO, "Fool to Love"
NAO makes heartbreak sound good. It's so hard listening to this song and not envision Brandy singing it.
22. A Tribe Called Quest, "The Space Program"
"Dis Generation" and "We The People" were popular picks I hear, but "The Space Program" really set the tone for the entire album and illustrates the struggles that African Americans continue to face in 2016 and probably will in Trump 2017. It just hits me the most personally, but it's also arranged in a way that's fun to listen to so it's not depressing.
21. Banks, "Gemini Feed"
It's a bit more restrained from your typical dark Banks style, and with the help of production of SOHN this is very upbeat. Why am I LEANING to a song that's suppose to be about a relationship with an emotionally manipulative ex-lover.
