When I don't have standouts for one album it can mean two things: the album doesn't have any standout songs or all the songs on the album could be listed there.
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/k-ac.jpg) | Ke$ha
Animal + Cannibal
Standouts: Your Love Is My Drug, TiK ToK, Take It Off, Blah Blah Blah, Cannibal, We R Who We R.
After the contagious first single Tik Tok, who would't check her debut album? Animal is a nice way to start off Ke$ha's career. Who doesn't jam to her songs when they come up on the clubs? I particularly remember pulling a Ke$ha twice with Tik Tok, the first one I was making out with a guy when Tik Tok came up and we went crazy on all the kissing and the other one I was extremely drunk and went crazy again. Sure, she doesn't have a good voice and doesn't perform well, but that's what Ke$ha's all about, songs to have fun, have a good time. Animal is a good effort, even though her album gets old too quickly. Re-release Cannibal is even better, the biggest highlights are the singles because RCA's doing a great job with her, her era was perfectly planned and singles perfectly chosen. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/d-e.jpg) | Duffy
Endlessly
Standouts: My Boy, Too Hurt To Dance, Keeping My Baby, Well Well Well, Don't Forsake Me, Lovestruck, Hard For The Heart.
Duffy is one of the most talented girls the UK has witnessed these last few years after a magnificent album and era like Rockferry, you'd think that the artist has aready started at her peak, and so Duffy went back to the studio and managed to record an album just as good as Rockferry, if not better. Endlessly is an album filled with what Duffy is an expert: soulful songs. Her handwriting is a one of a kind, no one can write about heartache like her and her voice might not be the easiest one to appreciate, but you can easily forget about that when you feel the emotion she puts on the song. It kills. Hands down for Duffy. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/r-l.jpg) | Rihanna
Loud
Standouts: S&M, What's My Name, Fading, Only Girl, California King Bed, Raining Men, Skin.
Rihanna never disappoints when it comes to bringing the fire and the hits. Rihanna has a very unique style and voice and a swagga that only she could put on a song and make it hot and this album is all about that. She jumped on the electropop bandwagon for the first single but still kept her essence, which is something that not a lot of artists do nowadays. Although It's a little disappointing to see Rihanna going from a Rated R which is not only Rihanna's best album, but also one of the best albums released last year to this album. Rated R has a concept and a reason for everything and Loud doesn't. Loud is pretty much a collection of songs that could be hits. It has very very good songs on it, but as an album it lacks something. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/m-ss.jpg) | Monica
Still Standing
Standouts: One In A Lifetime, If You Were My Man, Mirror, Here I Am, Superman, Believing In Me, Blackberry.
While we have a futuristic trend on pop music right now, on R&B music we can see a lot of artists going back in time when it comes to style and influences. After a big flop with her 2006 release, Monica decided to put together an R&B album with lots of influences from the nineties and still managed to mix them up with sime nice up to date beats, as we can notice on her two singles off the album Everything To Me and Love All Over Me. A great R&B album released this year. Definitely something for you to check out. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/tb-p.jpg) | Toni Braxton
Pulse
Standouts: -
Toni Braxton. After Whitney Houston made a big comeback last year, it's time for another diva from the nineties to make her comeback. Toni has one of the most powerful and remarkable voices in R&B music. I think it's so unfortunate that not many people nowadays had contact with the greatness that 'Unbreak My Heart', 'How Could An Angel Break My Heart', You're Making Me High', 'Breathe Again' are. Unfortunatelly, Toni's comeback almost went unnoticed when she deserved and had the material to have some hits because of poor promotion. Pulse is a great album with very up to date sound and also very classic Toni Braxton; songs that could easily have been big hits, or at least big Urban hits, if that's the only market she's aimed at. The whole album is good, too bad it was almost entirely leaked on the internet ages before the actual release. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/tm-sy.jpg) | Teairra Mari
Sincerely Yours
Standouts: Uneasy, Emergency, Sponsor, Operator, Stranger.
Teairra is another girl who has a great voice and yet people don't care about. It's something that really pisses me off when we see some Rihannas or Ke$has getting some love and still having no singing talents at all. Anyway, Teairra has tried once again to have her space in the industry with her yet to be released second album, as that didn't work, they decided to put this EP out with some songs from the album. The EP has some really good songs that radio would eat up if sung by some Rihanna or something. I still hope that someday Teairra will get some recognition for her music. |
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/vithor/BestOf10/album/kr-tts.jpg) | Kevin Rudolf
To The Sky
Standouts: -
Kevin Rudolf might not appeal as an interesting artist to be a stan or something, but damn he makes some really good albums. His debut album, In The City, made my list at #11 back in 2008 and after the lead single being a little bleh, I lost the little interest I had on this album (not that Kevin is an artist to anticipate anyways), but when the album leaked I listened to it and damn I don't regret at all. He is not the best male singer out there, but has a very very nice voice to listen to and his sound is very enjoyable. He has a little rock influence and yet he's completely pop, a little bubblegummy at times. To The Sky is definitely a great album, he still has to give me another 'Great Escape' though and it didn't come on this album. |
