Fact of the matter is, no one is really to blame. People are simply not as interested in award shows or are watching through other means. Maybe it's time for Nielsen to update how they calculate ratings.



Gaga always on your mind. It's a proven fact that the VMA ratings go up from the previous year when Gaga is in attendance.



When it comes to other award shows, such as the Oscars or even the Grammys, Gaga is not the main draw, nor is she even the point of the show (that is, unless you're implying Gaga is the most important person to attend the Grammys and Oscars). The VMAs, however, are Gaga's territory. Try again!

Gaga definitely adds to music shows with her over the top performances.

Regular pop artists like Rihanna, Katy and Britney only get on stage move side to side and whisper a few words. They do the 101 and call it a day.

Gaga is simply different. Beyonce does her own thing too, as proved in the past few years.

Gaga is statistically proven to be ratings gold for music related events without the hype and stats showing lower numbers.


Also, someone mentioned the BET awards ratings rising and i'm sure their streaming rose as well as streaming is on the rise...

But yes I definitely expect 2017 vmas to be higher in ratings and streams partially due to Gaga.
