Was any one expecting TI to do big numbers with no hit single on the radio & little promotion since he's in jail.

Exactly. I actually predicted similar numbers. His drop will be telling, tho.

With a hit single, hype, and only >100k more.
People acting shocked over the latest numbers is getting sooooo overplayed. These should be expected. No one's fanbase is intact if the music leading in is crap. Both "Get Back Up" & "Got Your Back" are nothing to make you want to buy his CD, especially compared to "Whatever U Like" & "Live Your Life". DUHHHHHHH.

He had a huge Hip-Hop hit and he only had all of YM talking about it non-stop. The album didn't even leak until it was available for purchase on iTunes lol

Hype ?? Most people didn't even know he had an album coming out. But I do admit he had a huge hit in Right Above It

Rebirth begs to differ.
Though you're right, this album is a huge disappointment after Paper Trail, which was pretty much flawless. The hype just wasn't there. But these numbers are still lower than I expected.

completely true ! Rebirth had so many bad reviews and most people didn't give it a chance because it was an experimental album ...
It still sold 176 K

Yes. Hype. Lil Wayne is one of the most hyped hip-hop artists. He has Young Money. He had the hit. Maybe it wasn't immaculate hype like TC3, but it was 95% more hype than T.I.'s album had, so its not an easy comparison.

I guess you have a good point about the hype ! And he did have a hit so that probably explains his better sales

Well, going from 1 million to 176k says enough.

I think a lot of confusion about the album title and release date had a lot to do with it. Poor marketing.

lol true. Though I agree with YM8 that the circumstances aren't really comparable. Some people still refuse to even consider it a Wayne album.

Yeah the circumstances are different. But still, the general idea is the music wasn't that of what his fanbase came to relate to, therefore it failed in a major way. Of course, it wasn't going to sell 1 million again, but a nearly 100% difference is a lot.
