The Voice and Saturday Night Live are huge promo spots. I think American Idol is decent, too.
I'm not really sure about talk shows, but I know Ellen is pretty good promotion as well.

They all kinda vary, honestly. It all usually boils down to the performance and the demographic for the shows in question. It's usually morning/daytime shows that have the biggest effect. The after-dark/late-night shows, for obvious reasons, usually don't have much of an effect at all.

SNL might not have a huge iTunes effect, but people talk about the performances and it's a good way for stars to get their music acknowledged by the general public.
