Korean girl group 2NE1 earn greatest gainer honors this week as "I Love You" edges forward 7 spaces from 25 to 18. The track is vying to become their first top ten hit, as "I Am The Best" peaked just outside the region at 11 in 2011.
Also posting a 7-space movement, but in the opposite direction, Maroon 5's top ten collaboration with Wiz Khalifa is the greatest decrease of the week. The LA-based group is vying to roar onto the Top 40 with follow-up hit "One More Night" within the next week or so.
This week's top ten (along with the previous one) notably features five British artists, which is the most of any single non-American nationality at a given time.* Singles by Florence + The Machine (and Calvin Harris), Ed Sheeran, and Emeli Sande are all vying for the coveted number one position while Alex Clare's "Too Close" has already peaked at number two. Could he rebound? Possibly, but stay tuned.
*Previously, the UK had even held the record in 2011, as Bush ("The Sound of Winter" [#3]), Coldplay ("Paradise" [#6]), Jessie J ("Domino"[#7]) and Calvin Harris (w/ Rihanna "We Found Love"[#9]) were concurrently charting within the -top ten.
