I'm not dragging its performance because it's what I expected, I'm kii-ing at everyone saying it was gonna do 200K+ and debut in the Top 10 Again, I love Brit and the song, but the backfire has been pretty funny.

Its about to fall out of the top 5, its first week sales projections are underwhelming, and as of right now it is only #1 on iTunes in 1 country (El Salvador). I was expecting it to do better.

All the posts I saw said otherwise, I don't go in the Brit base at all (I went in once to ask about the bops from Blackout I think). And I'm sure Britney couldn't give a single **** about this songs performance either.

Anyone trying to blame the songs chart run on Iggy is just plain deluded, to put it bluntly.

SJW? Social justice warrior? I like Iggy, I never got the cultural appropriation junk, but those awful freestyles have been viral for months, and Iggy has just been getting constant backlash, as seen by Trouble flopping and her having to quit social media. And the songs performance isn't Iggy's fault anymore than Brit's fault for not having any momentum going into this project.

Nah the majority of stans are aware of what people say about Iggy

I told them to settle down and give the song time, especially before trying to shade the other girls. It's still too early to tell what's going to happen with this song, but shading other pop girls for their lack of hits is a no-go when your faves own hits aren't guaranteed.

Do you really think people still like Iggy like when Fancy was on top?
I thought this was going to be like #1 all week, for real.

Like I said, Iggy or any perceived "backlash" is not to blame here. It really doesn't exist outside of ATRL and SJW blogs. There are many parodies and Vines about all artists.

Trouble was a minor hit outside the US, sure. But this thread and the predictions was about the US performance, where Iggy has incredibly little support at the moment.
A majority of my friends have Vines and see and quote the videos, and I go to an arts conservatory. All I know is that there are several Iggy parodies with millions of loops / views that have not helped her image at all. Yes, there are parodies of other artists on Vine, but Iggy is a laughing stock on social media with her Papa Johns fight, viral videos of poor freestyles, and a polarizing public persona.
The songs lukewarm performance can be attributed to Britney's last era tanking, as well Iggy's current era being messy as hell with scrapped videos, tours, etc.

it's always really funny to me how vehemently ya'll will refute those claims when anyone else expresses them, and then when the song flops you're able to use them to make your case seem stronger that the song is doing fine
p.s. is the song still slaying in Azerbijan?

the song is underperforming but it's got nothing to back it up. drag it if it flops when the video is out, it's been performed on TV and radio persistently plays it
my point still stands

The fact there are so many parodies about her, just goes to show how big of a profile she had in 2014. As we're both Kelly fans, we can both understand an artist being ridiculed, like Kelly recently with her weight. That doesn't stop the GP from buying the music, like I've said, multiple times.................. The GP really don't care.
It's not as wide known as you think, just because you associate yourself with it and choose to be around it. The GP really doesn't know that much.
|
Decent hit outside the US, yes. Flop in the US big time.
Of course she had a huge profile in 2014, 3 Top 3 hits and a gold album, slay. But since then, Reclassified is at something like 250K US I believe, received mixed reviews like its predecessor, Beg For It performed modestly with a scrapped video, Iggy had to leave all social media and her tour was pulled. Iggy's market in the US is in tatters.
You can't really decide who the GP is. For the urban community, they're definitely not on her side as they're the ones driving her parodies and blocking her from Urban radio essentially. The Pop community probably doesn't care as much.
All I'm saying is that the Army/people in this thread were heavily overestimating Iggy's power as if she was still in the midst of the Problem/Fancy slayage, when she is far from it.

this is categorically false. 90% of the Army was hoping the single would even get axed because of their distaste for Iggy and I was among those people. Most people knew there was a big backlash against Iggy. Go check the posts in the base prior to the single coming out.
the Army only gave Iggy credit for convincing Britney to promote. Period. We were never going to attribute the song's success to her in anyway

oh sis i won't have to, the rest of the forum will do it for me
also i was referring to you calling your own fave a forgotten has been, nothing to do with the airplay of lack of video. plenty of other songs are able to take off on their own just based off the name of the celebrity. you would think that since ya'll argue constantly that Britney is still adored in the public eye that a song of hers would do well
just another thing ya'll are wrong about, i suppose

I said it was gonna do 80k and tons of non stans over estimated it just to give themselves an excuse to drag it when it doesn't live up to their claims.
I think most stans expected it to do better than it is, but that's because we assumed such an infectious song would be eaten up by radio but it hasn't. We'll just have to wait and see

Again, there were plenty of people in this thread that were presenting the idea that they believed Iggy was going to really help this song. And did Iggy actually convince her to promote? Mess

This all, they are really delusional lol. Like they really think the internet is so far away for the people on real life, maybe here is not real life but twitter is pretty much global rn. Facebook too and her vines where there and had millions of plays.

I don't call her a forgotten has been. I was being sarcastic because people on here call her it.
and please give me the names of some songs that smashed with no video, no airplay and no performances

no one is mad, most of us just find it funny how much ya'll cling on to sales figures from almost two decades ago to inflate the ability / relevancy of your own fave, haphazardly attempting to drag everyone's fave in the process when, in reality, all of our faves are still able chart well or, at the very least, decently
but let me stop, ya'll go on and be happy that your fave made a song with last year's quick lil radio fad in a blatant attempt for radio success and it's underperforming to all oblivion. new music is new music for ya'll i guess!
edit: wow you really seem intent on not grasping this. I'm saying that it's bull**** that it's okay for YOU to use the excuse that she's a forgotten has been (which is literally exactly what you just did a couple of posts ago) to justify the fact that the song is underperforming, and but if anyone else on the forum says it ya'll break your fingers clicking the report button and, again, pull out sales figures from 17 years ago. that is point. blank. period. what ya'll do.
get some fresh air sis, i'm about to. i can only deal with people who emulate their faves for so long.
