If I were to use the same reasoning, even Shakira receives as much recognition in her home base, if not much more. In the entirety of Latin America and Spain she's untouchable. No Spanish-speaking female artist even challenges her. When she was awarded Person of The Year at this year's Latin Grammys, she too had overwhelming support and recognition from her musical peers.
