I must say that upon my first listen to Loud, Fading was my 2nd favourite (behind Man Down). The opening was really epic for me, and it made me feel like I was floating up to heaven. All that excitement wore off for me, though.

Yeah but the imagery and sound from Erotica to Bedtime stories flowed....with Loud it just felt like shitttt Rated R didn't sell lets do a complete 180. It didn't feel like the decision of an artist. Madonna is a huge commercial star but she's a true artist...and has always been good at reflecting where she is in her life in her music. If Rihanna didn't release so quickly maybe she could do this. I'm thinking less and less that she has any interest in being an artist though...she has great singles but I think she's very fame driven.

I also really want Rihanna to do more pop-rock uptempos, but not in the way she's done them. Let's be honest; Shut Up and Drive and Rockstar 101 are both hot messes, and pretty much any of Rihanna's rock-influenced songs that AREN'T ballads are.

Oh I stil definitely agree with you there though. I DO really want her to slow down (and I honestly thought it would happen after a LOUD re-release)....

The industry is different though than it was when Madonna was in her prime. Artists don't have as much time to take breaks and still be relevant on the charts anymore (Just look at the chart performance of Bey's "4" singles)....

I think she will manage to slow down eventually...and I do honestly think she was heavily involved with the creative processes of Rated R. I really hope after this new album she will dig her heels in and work on something really transcending, commercial, artistic, and unique all at the same time...

But for now it's just fun pop music...which I think is her goal at the moment..and she's obviously hitting that mark exceptionally well..
