Allowing members to change their name as often as they want is too messy for many reasons. We want to create a balance where users can have the ability to change their names and at the same time keep a sense of stability so that other members aren't having to constantly adjust to new names, and accountability so that members aren't causing trouble with one name and changing it the moment they start taking fire. Name change history will help with that, but even that will likely be a limited archive. Another concern is that people will eventually use their name itself as a way of trolling. It'll be easier to control with fewer name changes possible.
The exact time limit may be changed as we evaluate the beta, but the limit itself serves a purpose.
