I think you feel disillusioned because you're more in touch with the remixes. Most of the GP today only know the "du-du-du-du" sample and those of us that are culturally literate enough to know "Tom's Diner" only know the a Capella. I agree with you that it's far from his best work (though it is his best work in two decades by far, imo) but I appreciate that there's a solid distinction between the 1987 version and the 2015 version in the addition of an instrumental but it still holds that samey, monotonous feel that made the original so unique and memorable.

Plus, I think Britney sounds heavenly. Despite the vocoder her voice sounds so pure and the top layer is unaltered and sounds very 2001-era Britney to me.

I'm very glad to read this reply. People are thinking I'm here to hate, but I'm obviously here to discuss and I appreciate you taking the time to actually describe why you like it and all that instead of just spewing the normal ATRL-isms that don't even relate to the song.

Though I'm not really familiar with any remixes, mostly the original, I just know I have heard many remixes.

Anyway I will leave this thread. There is not a discussion happening and too many people just complaining about hearing a negative opinion.

Her voice definitely has a sugary feel to it in the chorus. very warm and seductive but the production is awful and her voice in the bridge is horrendous.

No one really explained why they considered her voice to be so good (the term "flawless" was thrown around to describe them) and the only person who replied to my question was someone who insulted me. If I missed it in another post then I apologize.

And I have entered 2 threads about this song. One being the first one I saw about it, and the other being this thread which is the official one, thus my commenting here.

Anyway, ya I said I'll leave so I'll do that now. You guys should just stop being so concerned about one person's opinion though, no matter how vocal they are. Instead you're engaging me in conversation and complaining when my opinion is not changed and restated.

Her voice isn't altered. The background vocals have vocoder on them but the main vocals do not.
