The only thing he was really saying was to stop coming for positive reviews as if your view is the only valid one? (not you in particularly though) :P

.. .1.8
(out of ten) | Sia - '1000 Forms of Fear' . . .Sia's mainstream pop debut showcases all her worst excesses |
| dddddddddddddd | 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia Furler's sixth solo studio album and her first album since she became an A-list session writer, is also her first true foray into the world of mainstream pop. In the lead-up to the album's release, Furler appeared in various photoshoots and on television programs with bags over her head or with her face turned away from the camera, posturing as shy to the point of meeting the diagnostic criteria for Avoidant Personality Disorder. It's an interesting promotional gimmick, one that Fear unfortunately fails to live up to.
The album starts off at its lowest point with lead single "Chandelier," which boasts a pitiful attempt to emulate Rihanna's Barbadian patois in the verses and a chorus that gives Katy Perry's "Firework" a run for its money in the vocal strain department, all the while exemplifying everything wrong with Sia's songwriting as of late: alternatingly bombastic and lobotomized. And yet, as cacophonous and trite (this theme has been explored miles better by the likes of Tove Lo, Marina & The Diamonds, and Kesha in the past few years alone) as "Chandelier" may be, at the very least it elicits some sort of emotion. Angry, resentful emotions, but emotions nonetheless. The rest of the album just passes by without leaving much of an impression at all beyond the occasional "wow, Sia really needs some more vocal training" and "is she saying words or just moaning?". It's impossible to even critique the lyrics when they're unintelligible 90% of the time.
Meanwhile, Greg Kurstin, who has production credits on every song here, seems to have given Sia his leftover tracks from Tegan & Sara's infinitely better Heartthrob from last year, as the production on all his tracks here are so tepid and lifeless it's no wonder Sia sounds like she's overdosed on Ambien. "Elastic Heart," originally written for the Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack and co-produced by Diplo, stands heads and shoulders above the rest of the songs here; while Sia still sounds pained and borderline narcoleptic, the production is riveting enough to distract you from her over-the-top yarl.

Well Sia earned it.
Ugh I hope the next album isn't Ultraviolence or I'm going to seem like a major curmudgeon.

Okay. Here's my review. It's most likely going to seem unintelligent but at least in trying
Here's my review of Chandelier:
Chandelier is one of the best songs from the album, in my opinion. It's definitely a standout track. The lyrics in the song are amazing. The song is also amazing vocally and it has great production. This song has a lot of potential to be a huge smash it and be remembered for a long time. Also, I don't know if I'm supposed to say anything about the music video, but I'd like to say that the music video has flawless choreography.
Now here's the review for the album:
1000 Forms of Fear is an amazing album and every song on it is amazing. In my opinion, every song has single potential and it is a flawless filler free album. The vocals on all songs are perfect. It is one of the best albums I ever heard. I think the '1000 Forms of Fear' era will be a smash era and Sia will get the success that she deserves. I can see this album winning a lot of awards and I think it has a big chance to win Grammys. The album is also flawless lyrically. Not only is the album amazing lyrically and vocally, but the production is also flawless. Honestly, 2014 wasn't that much of a good year in music but Sia's album '1000 Forms of Fear' made it better. It is one of my favorite albums of all time.
10/10.
Sorry if my review seems...

I'm stealing Doc's post coding and I couldn't care less
It's sleek, it's nice, and it can provide a distinct difference between members and mods?
Sia - '1000 Forms of Fear'
First off let me start by being completely honest, I originally did not know who Sia was. It wasn’t until she was featured on some of my favorite songs of the past years as both singer and songwriter, is when I really started looking into her. Have I dived in her past discography yet because of this, yeah not so much. However, I became obsessed with the stuff she would write and sing on for some of my favorite artists. 1000 Forms of Fear really exemplifies this new found popularity Sia has gained through her featurings and songwriting credits. It also exemplifies how she was trying to find that balance between her past material and this new found niche.
I was excited to listen to 1000 Forms of Fear after hearing the first single "Chandelier". It was one of those songs I instantly clicked with and still has never gotten old with me. Her vocals soar on the song and she does the same exact thing on the album as well. Sia has these raw vocals that sound extremely beautiful raspy as they do when she tries to belt a high note. She tries a lot of vocal ranges on this album which is something I commend. Where the album fails to impress is really the consistency and the music. At times it felt like songs were being recycled and given a slightly different melody with different lyrics. It also started off great then dwindled in its greatness by a lot, only to regain itself towards the end. We won’t get into the mess of the ending that is “Dressed in Black”, but really Sia? The album really needed a lot more stand out songs that were made to impress. She has this new found body of work and success with it, but she really did not play it to her advantage on this album. As stated earlier, it felt like a conflict between trying to be the Sia her die hard indie-pop fans have grown to love and the Sia her new pop/dance/electro fans have grown to love.
Overall, it was good album. It wasn’t great nor was it terrible. There were some stand out songs, stand out production, stand out vocals, but overall just didn’t mesh as much as I wanted it to. As someone who was excited to listen to this album, it left me disappointed.
STAND OUTS: Chandelier, Elastic Heart, Fire Meets Gasoline, Cellophane

Sazare being RUTHLESS
These reviews are interesting to read, though. Interesting to see how people can put such different spins on the same piece of material.

Lets not review Ultraviolence. I think certain members are too biased against it.
I stand by my suggestion to review La Roux - Trouble In Paradise if we're sticking to new releases. The Golden Echo and FKA Twigs' album would be cool too.

Why is everyone ONLY suggesting indie albums / unpopular albums?
I mean moi doesn't wanna be that person; but I think we'd oughta start reviewing albums by known names. Just to get into those and to get this thread to truly blow up. Not all these unpopular albums just so you can have them get noticed.

I mean I'm not trying to be mean, but some of these suggestions are the quickest way to this thread flopping.

We should do Lana. That will keep the thread going. If not, then La Roux, or Kimbra when her album comes out.
