No, like I said what matters for her label is that she brings them money. What would be bad is if she had 5 #1 albums that debuted with 80K, as some albums have done.

As for her career looking bad, if I told the average Joe that Rihanna has had 5 #1 albums and they each sold almost 10M, he'd believe you.

For sure.

However, when you read an article or if a VJ makes an announcement on your favorite artist, they are going to most likely mention the chart position of that person's song or album... "Lady GaGa has the #1 album in the country... her album debuted in the top 5.," etc.

People care/know more about positions/sales than some of you are suggesting. You can ask your little brothers, grandmas, etc. but those people clearly aren't the group of people who care about this stuff. The youth who use Twitter, Facebook, and these forums know the deal.

who the **** cares what people care about, we just want the numbers, I don't care about the position, if it debuted at #20 with 200k would be great but debuting at #1 with 180k is no bueno. I hope she does great worldwide because US has clearly demonstrated that Rihanna is not one of the priorities

People outside of websites like this don't care about sales or positions. You honestly think the average 15 yr olds are gonna sit around and have a heated debate about how much albums sold? No. That's crazy. Once people hear an artist has a song out they'll go online to see if they like it and most likely download it. Unless you're wrapped up in this whole music world like we are you don't think about sales and positions. I guarantee if I went to the local store and asked everyone in there what the #1 song in the country was now that 97% of them wouldn't know.

Yep.

If you're on the radio and in the media a lot, people will just assume you're huge. The internet is the only place I discuss chart positions because everyone I know either has no idea what I'm talking about or simply doesn't care.
