How haven't I seen you around before? Your taste is amazing.
After The Disco feels like it came out forever ago, but is great.
Damien Rice, Neon Trees, and Jack White also.
Let me go check out the songs I don't know

Of course, what those feelings were are a little bit harder to describe, Imagine being completely mystified, a little terrified, and especially a little aroused

"Two Weeks" has such a vivid atmosphere. Listening to it is an experience.
I just discovered "All This Could Be Yours" a few weeks ago, but I love it.

Lazaretto is the only one I like from this set, but that's only because I've heard none of the others. It appears I have some listening to do for the next hour

I love The Walker! Too bad that song was my jam between November - February so... it flopped on my 2013 charts and it flopped on my 2014 charts
Heart and Soul and I love Sleeping With a Friend!

Totally agree with your Neon Trees description. No more of Animal or ET, and more of unapologetic pop synth hooks.

Albums:
Glorious
Yas the deluxe edition is better for sure. I disagree that there's not a ton of standout non-singles, the singles are indeed INCREDIBLY amazing, but there's still some great tracks on there that exceed or match them.
Songs:
Glorious | West Coast
Both are amazing

The lyrics are ten times less frisky than the music itself. The music is practically wet.

After The Disco and Lazaretto might also be my favorite songs on their respective albums. The rest ... I haven't heard. :-o Considering how many new albums I listen to per year I always feel weird missing out on this stuff, when I get hooked into crap like .... well I won't go negative in case they pop up on yours (or someone elses) list later. :-p
|
Dammit, now I'm wondering what you're referring to...and I'm almost positive now that whoever you're referring to made my list. I'm sure of it.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about how you would react when I was writing that particular blurb.

If it makes you two feel any better, I had the same reaction when it came to your year end threads.

Well, yes, there are a couple of songs that get close. I'm a big fan of "Night Owls Early Birds", for example. But nothing's touching "Let Go For Tonight" on that album. Nothing. Nada.
Okay, I'm not going to lie to you and say that I'm ready to post the next set, because I'm not remotely prepared yet. I fully expect to get it posted by tomorrow at the latest, but tonight may be pushing it. In the mean time, though, I might post a couple of things, including something I haven't done in years: An UNANNOUNCED list. Exciting!

The YECA: Anticipated Albums of 2015 (& JUST MISSED 110-101)
Even when I struggle to finish these threads, I never, EVER like to have any down time when I AM updating this best of thread. There are two big exceptions: Christmas and New Year's. I tend to take those periods off (or close to it) in order to celebrate the season. Unlike previous years, though, this thread won't die off in the new year. I intend on posting everything that I possibly can. Of course, the top 100 is the top priority, but I'm just not ready to update that yet. To compensate, I offer you not one, but TWO new things to look at.
The first is the second set of songs that just missed out on the top 100. I had a particularly hard time leaving the last three out, but that was also reflective of how difficult it was to put the top 100 together this year.
JUST missed...110-101
110) The Black Keys - Gotta Get Away
109) Coldplay - A Sky Full of Stars
108) Against Me! - Black Me Out
107) U2 - The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
106) Slipknot - The Devil In I
105) Bear Hands - Giants
104) Bush - The Only Way Out
103) OneRepublic - Love Runs Out
102) Milky Chance - Stolen Dance
101) Big Data ft. Joywave - Dangerous
Okay, that's out of the way. Let's get to what you're probably really interested in: The mystery unannounced list! OOOOOOOOOH! MYSTERY! I can't believe I didn't think of doing this list before now, especially considering the fact that 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for music. With that in mind, here's a rare non-graphic look at the albums I'm really looking forward to in 2015, including a bunch (and I mean a BUNCH) of other albums I'm looking forward to.
Red's Top 11 Most Anticipated Albums of 2015
Honorable Mentions
Untitled Bad Religion album
Untitled Bjork album
Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams
Untitled The Dead Weather album
Untitled Eagles of Death Metal album
Untitled Frank Ocean album
Untitled Incubus album
Lupe Fiasco - Tetsuo & Youth
Untitled Loretta Lynn album
Untitled Madonna album
Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor
Mark Ronson - Uptown Special
Modest Mouse - Strangers to Ourselves
Untitled No Doubt album (this is a BIG maybe)
Untitled Slayer album
11) Untitled Red Hot Chili Peppers album
If you know me, then you probably know that I wasn't the biggest fan of I'm With You. Even still, that album went to some very promising places, and if they expand upon them with this next album, it could be a return to form for them.
10) Untitled Ellie Goulding album
My one fear with this album is that Ellie will further head down the EDM path. I want her to expand on Halcyon and the potential sounds that can rise out of that album, not Halcyon Days. If we get the former, it's, hopefully, going to be a joy to listen to.
9) Giorgio Moroder - 74 is The New 24
The first song off of Giorgio's first studio album in over twenty years is one HELL of a banger. And if that wasn't enough, here's just a small list of some of the names who had a hand with this album outside of Moroder: Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Sia, Charli XCX, Matthew Koma, and Foxes. WOW.
8) Untitled Kanye West album
If you haven't listened to "Only One", you really should. As much as I liked Yeezus, I think the world needs a happier 808s and Heartbreaks, and if the first song released off of the album is any indication, then that's exactly what we're going to get.
7) Untitled Faith No More album
I'm going to go on ahead and say it, even with it appearing on my Singles list later: "Mother****er" is freaking amazing. It's also Faith No More at the core. It's FNM's first album in nearly twenty years. We (or at least I) care a lot.
6) Untitled Metallica album
The first Metallica album since my 2008 #1, Death Magnetic. I haven't been wowed by the Metallica releases since then, but Rick Rubin is working with Metallica again, and that's good enough for me.
5) Untitled Radiohead album
I don't know for certain if we're going to get a Radiohead album in 2015, but just the thought of one is making me froth at the mouth. I just hope it's a little better than The King of Limbs.
4) Untitled Adele album
There's barely any indication that Adele will be releasing new material in 2015. And yet, for the last couple of years, I continue to hold out hope that each passing year will be the year we get a new Adele album. And really, it HAS to happen sometime, right?
3) Untitled Deftones album (and possibly Eros)
Deftones became one of my all-time favorite artists with Diamond Eyes, and they went even beyond my highest expectations with Koi No Yokan. Yeah, you can damn well bet that I'm looking forward to even the thought of another Deftones album. Oh, and there's a minute chance that Eros might finally see the light of day. Fingers crossed.
2) Untitled Tool album
An album that, really, should have already been here by now, and yet, we're at the beginning of 2015, and it hasn't been released yet. The good news, though, is that it's more likely than ever that 2015 will be the year that Tool FINALLY releases its fifth album, nine years after the release of 10,000 Days. If a certain trio from England wasn't releasing a new album, the fifth Tool album would be my #1 most anticipated release, no question.
1) Untitled Muse album
It's Muse. Like you need any other reason. Oh, and "Citizen Erased", aka Muse's most epic song ever, is said to be getting a "sequel" on this album. AND Mutt Lange (yes, THAT Mutt Lange) is working with Muse on the album. AND, if you take Matt Bellamy's words to heart, this album is going to be more of a "back to basics" album, which is to say that it will be more in the vein of, say, Absolution than The 2nd Law. And I loved The 2nd Law more than most people, but...COME ON!
I hope all of this will tide you over until the next top 100 update.

Aww. Would love ASFOS to make it.
WAIT I didn't know Coldplay is gonna release another album, I thought that title was a joke, like a play on the title of ASFOS. And I just read it might be their last album, please no, that is devastating.
I'm VERY interested in Kanye's new album. And Ellie's and Adele's of course.
Hmm Muse, I've never listened to an album of them, maybe that'll change.
