Wth this sounds nothing like her
Not sure if this will be a hit, it's a bit too different for mainstream audiences. Not what I expected but maybe it will grow on me

You know you're doing something right when a 13-second preview turns into a trending topic. That happened yesterday when Bridget Mendler shared a clip of "Atlantis" on Twitter. Mendler has a loyal fan base from her work as an actress and earlier music, but "Atlantis" is a departure from the saccharine flavor of previous singles like "Ready or Not," an international hit that went platinum in several countries. "Atlantis" is more complex, a little more difficult to process, but ultimately much more rewarding.
"Atlantis" is an immersive piece of modern pop music that feels like something between drowning and floating, or maybe like a little of both. "I was overwhelmed by emotional numbness," Mendler explains, "like a whole city overcome by waves, and dumped into the ocean. After being in love for so long, it was scary and confusing to deal with the loss of that feeling. This song was written at a moment when I was sorting through these emotions and expectantly looking towards the future."
At the two-minute mark, "Atlantis" gets a boost from one of our favorite up-and-comers, a versatile 19-year-old rapper from Florida named Kaiydo. "I felt the song would be a good one to have a rapper counterpart," says Mendler, "to add a different perspective. Kaiydo met the tone of the song perfectly."
