I get why people love ha but I'm really just not that into it. She only got one 10 from me.
She, as an artist, reminds me of that song who ends up really high in the rate not because she's THE BEST, but because she's just easy to like. Not a lot of 10s, but no 3s either.

Get her discography, like today. It is fantastic. Lungs and it's release especially.

Hometown Glory is a bombastic BORE!! A lot of her debut is a bore which is why I didn't really go UP for her like I do now. Her 2nd album with all hype put aside.... legitimately ***** and is the type of album that is right up my alley. The same can be said with Christina, Kelly Clarkson, & P!nk.... I barely use their debuts but their sophomores is where they really broke out. I was stanning for Chrissy & Kelly by the 3rd album. P!nk won me over with her 4th. I can't wait for Adele's 3rd.
|
Okay, good. I rated MYFML higher. I don't think 19 is a bore. It isn't any more boring than 21, at least.

I always liked "Chasing Pavements," but it was my least favorite single from 19. "Cold Shoulder," "Make You Feel My Love" and "Hometown Glory" will always be my ****.

I think you can tell the difference in listening to her last two singles. Never Let Me Go is a real stunner, with true spirit (it kind of reminds me of the pop-gospel hybrid that Mariah started in 1991, just taken to extreme heights), while No Light, No Light is ... regrettable.

It's pretty solid! I'll never be fully on board with Florence; I'm too much of a Kate Bush fan for that. (See Leona/Mariah, Nicki/Kim, etc and so forth.) But the songs really do work.
The second album ... there comes a point where maximalism crosses the line. The second album found that point, and never left it. But then Shake It Out IS the best thing she's ever done?
|
Dog Days Are Over still takes the cake, besides Shake It Out's awesomeness.
The lowest Florence got from me was a 7, for Heavy In Your Arms, and now I think I should've rated some of her songs even higher...

I don't understand you.
Back when I was a lurker, I saw a post you made where you thrashed Rihanna's best song, Cold Case Love.
And yes, Lungs is better than Ceremonials. However, Shake It Out is great but not the star. What The Water Gave Me, Leave My Body, Only If For a Night, Spectrum, and Bedroom Hymns are all stronger.

Samey? Average? Really?
How is Seven Devils like All This and Heaven too? How are No Light No Light or What the Water Gave me average? I get that the album was overproduced, and personally I prefer all the songs sung acoustically, so I am all for her live performances, but lets not be overly harsh here....

Lungs will forever be my ****. Ceremonials is a good album, but it doesn't do anything for me. I don't come back to it like I do Lungs.

Ceremonials is obviously not as good as Lungs, but it's still pretty good. Besides the singles, I also love Seven Devils (I don't know why, it's just awesome), Strangeness and Charm (massive) and some others.

Let me just establish that Rolling In The Deep, Someone Like You, and Rumour Has It are all better than Set Fire to the Rain. SFTTR is a little overdone for me.

It is amazing : Howl, Blinding, Rabbit Heart, Girl With One Eye, My Boy Builds Coffins
And what about that release? Hardest of Heart and Heavy in My Arms are killer!

Ceremonials is a grower for me. I love it even more every time I listen to it, but the singles aren't as strong.

Seven Devils is becoming one of those songs for people making videos sound epic: case in point, the latest Game of Thrones official trailer. Its making that song a lot more popular.

The three bonus tracks are better than much of the album.

I never bashed Fire Bomb.
In fact, let me listen to that right now!

Fire Bomb would be lucky to make her best 20.

Let's be honest. Breaking Dishes and Rude Boy are Rihanna's best.

What are Florence's songs about? I don't quite get where she is coming from.

Top five is Cold Case Love, Umbrella, Rude Boy, Man Down, and We Found Love.
The bridge kills Breakin' Dishes.

Let's not turn this into a thread about her.
I would say more, but someone would report me!
Oh, and Division - Lana Del Ray mostly sucks a big vagina. Report that.
