Her first record was less mainstream compared to Teenage Dream. OFTB created Katy's image but she quite distroyed that with this era. I respected her a lot with her debut I did like her back then but when I first hear California Gurls I hope this is just a 1st single but the rest are the same tune. So if Teenage Dream is better than OFTB then I think your point is right. But shes not taking her to a next level with her 2nd album.

OOTB was a messed a up its was written for over 6 years when she had been dropped 3 times. I can tell you it wasnt her dream record. Katy always wanted this put out this big pop record, thats what she wanted.

That was in 2008 April. She wanted this pop record and thats why TD is here cuz OOTB wasnt exacly a mainstream pop record.

Circle the Drain, The one That Got Away, Not Like The Movies, Who Am I Living For?, Pearl, and even Firework and E.T. hold some degree of artistic quality. Just because she put out an electropop album and isn't some random indie artist doesn't mean the album is devoid of artistic quality.

And that five singles became huge hits proves it. There is a diversity in sound. There is a diversity in topics.

The pressed and bitter ones only prove even further that this era is slaying. The album sales may not be on par with the single sales but when you sell 20 million singles in the US alone, that is expected.
