It's interesting...before I Am Sasha Fierce was released a lot of people especially on atrl were arguing that Beyonce was a local act, but I think it's obvious now that she is more than just local lol Sweet Dreams is #8 i think on itunes in the UK and the album did better than other ~worldwide~ stars.
Beyoncé is definitely global.
She's big (not HUGE, but big) here in Latin America too.
I love how everyone calls Mariah a flop, but let's go take a look at Shakira.
It's a bit different, though. Shakira of course didn't have as much hype as Mariah, and Mariah, of course, didn't release her single the day after its radio premiere. Mariah tried to build up hype. Of course, I have a feeling both will move up once airplay picks up.
My point with that statement is that everyone is hating, screaming, and pointing fingers at Mariah for flopping, but Shakira is doing the same thing at the same point in time and no one is saying anything about that!
If Kings of Leon end up dethroning Black Eyed Peas (which I have doubts about, because IGF is somehow a MASSIVE hit despite being a pile of ****) I may just go into a shock-induced coma.
Now let's see some bands like The Used and Godsmack get up there. Hey, I can hope.
