I want to say I'm shocked but that's a lie. Serena's game this year has been a mess. She has been scratching and scraping her way by in the slams. Alot of people thought she'd go undefeated this year as well but I called that too. She really had to work on her footwork, volleys, and make her serve consistent. It sucks that she lose this opportunity but I hope she learns from it and becomes a better player.
She isn't always gonna be able to "Come On!" herself to a victory. There are things she really needs to work on. Because if she keeps bringing her C+ game and trying to get it by against fearless lower ranked opponets (Vinci, Bencic) they are going to continue to upset. Congrats Roberta and Flavia!
This whole chaos is caused by extremely high expectations towards Serena, which doesn't change the fact she's the best. She was just so close to do something unreachable for anyone. She failed, but it doesn't matter anyway.
