Well to be fair, I didn't know Madonna was behind Like a Player and Vogue before either, but I knew the songs. Were Frozen and Ray of Light even hits?
I think Frozen and Ray of Light were hits (I've always been familiar to RoL and loved it but never knew it was by Madonna; Frozen didn't stand the test of time aside from its quality). Madonna will always be "the Material Girl" or "the Like A Virgin singer" despite her having much better classics. I knew of "vogueing" but never really knew it was connected to Madonna until later on. Like A Prayer is a classic that everyone knows but might not know it is by Madonna.
If Carly actually worked with big producers for her new album, I can see her doing well.
She won't do well.
Love her, bought Kiss twice and imported the Curiosity EP, but I know she's not going to hit it big again. She missed her chance by not taking advantage of CMM properly and releasing the album well past the height of CMM's popularity.
