I don't think the USA is the most competitive but it is the largest music market. I think American music market is very fickle and trendy compared to other countries, that's why its difficult for some artists like Avril who isn't very trendy (i.e. she didn't hop on the EDM bandwagon).

There are tons of pop artists who have been successful without resorting to EDM/electropop/dance-pop. You don't need to be trendy to stay successful....Right? Right?

Besides, Xtina jumped on that bandwagon and it didn't do much for her.

Not a meme. I know we wish we were back in 2011 but it's time to accept reality and move on.

As for the topic at hand:

1. Remember When
2. Stop Standing There
3. Push
4. Not Enough
5. 4 Real
6. I Love You

So many great songs. I wish Avril had stuck with the breezy, spring sound of Push and Stop Standing There and applied it to the entire record. It would have fit with the green, leafy imagery associated with the album and I bet the album would have received a better critical reception as well had they done that.

I've no idea why they couldn't achieve some form of consistency with the sound. You'd think it was put together in four weeks rather than four years. Goes to show how deeply she thought about the record (see: barely at all). Oh well.
