Look how much SYTYCD etc did for the album back then.
She just needs another "big" moment to recharge the album, and MTN vid is the next opportunity for that.

As I've stated before and after MTN being announced as a single:
whatever the next single (after YAI) is going to be the pivotal single (the same as Judas was).
Judas had every opportunity to smash, and was the pivotal song choice. It could have resulted in (I hate to say it) more frontloaded sales (in a technical sense). However, Judas as a whole killed the era at the worst possible time (kind of).
Then the transition from the "death" to getting back on track, TEOG suffered (since it was the album release time too).
Then, the next single was pivotal but they chose YAI, possibly the best and worst single choice ever (given the circumstances).
We are now at a similar point to where Judas was (except less than stellar because YAI didn't stay at #1 for 6 weeks). However, MTN is the first song to be dancey since TEOG. It's also a much more traditional Gaga song than any of the prior singles; so, I'm banking on that.
MTN is the single if there is any single that could bring the album to greater heights. If sales don't naturally rise much higher after MTN is released (and hopefully smashes), then the album sales will remain where they are (lukewarm).
That's how I see it atm.
