This is a valid excuse if you're saying that the writers don't have the talent to come up with new and creative storylines that don't revolve around the triangle. To boil it all down to "this is the premise of the show and nothing else can or should be explored" is a weaksauce argument to me because I think there's A LOT of potential to really make some of these underdeveloped characters more proactive in the show. I was really excited when the Originals came to town because it brought a new element to the show and I didn't feel like I was just watching a dark soap opera all the time.

The triangle is always going to exist, but I'm just saying it's the same thing happening over and over again with no interesting twists. I'm tired of it. I'm not dumbing down my expectations just because other people may think the triangle is all this show has to offer. I'll keep watching out of loyalty, but I'm kind of disappointed. And I know this opinion is probably unpopular among the base, but I don't really care.

I was trying so hard not to cry at the funeral scene this last ep and I was doing good until Tyler showed up and then I just lost it. I'm glad Jeremy told everyone finally.

And I loved what happened with that professor and Jesse at the very end, I was like "He's gonna kill him!" like 10 secs before it happened.

I've been wanting Jeremy and Matt to get together since early last season, but it looks like that's not gonna happen with Matt's current storyline and after that scene with Damon hugging Jeremy I think I'd like Elena and Stefan to get back together so that Damon and Jeremy can hook up.

I got the significance of what everyone else put on the tree stump was, but can someone refresh my memory as to why Matt would have put a whistle on there?
