This was a fascinating read. Great review.
However, I disagree with the claim that The Fame era had more heart. During that time, her interviews were very robotic & cold, & she seemed like a bit of an ice queen. While the songs had plenty of charm, they lacked the personality her songs do today. I feel like BTW is what GaGa has wanted to show us fans for years. She focused on happiness with TF, & sadness with TFM, & this album is a mix of both, with the images focusing on the darker side of the album, because it matches with this rock-pop fashion side of herself she wants to be seen on this album. I also don't think this album is an identity crisis, rather, like I said, this is her finding an identity. The hooks, at least to me, are rather memorable.
This album is truly a divide for her fans, & while I have one opinion you have another, so this was a good read.
