I doubt Drake or Nicki would have soared to #1 without those factors. Nicki's first song flopped even with all of the features, so the music has to really appeal to the urban market, too.

I agree with this but honestly massive attack flopped for another reason as well
I don't feel that his buzz is as noticeable as Drake's, Kid Cudi's, Wiz's, etc. For example, when Drake had buzz EVERYBODY knew about it. I don't feel like that's the case for Mac Miller. Asher Roth had more buzz. ****, people buzz about Kreayshawn more in the urban community. Maybe I'm speaking about what I see in my community, which is definitely urban-based.
He's a non-factor because the same five artists are getting played there. His race could have something to do with it, but that never stopped Robin Thicke from getting two #1 on the R&B/Urban charts.

Yes. I agree with you. He's like "pop-rap." He definitely seems to have more buzz with white suburbanites.
