It's admirable that Rihanna has been able to semi crack SA without the aid of Shakira , and GGGB and Te Amo helped. And Rih needs to show Australia and NZ more love but I think her touring there recently may help her next era. Unapologetic practically rose from the dead when she toured there and fell after she left.
I think Asia Stan's for her The Phillipines, mainland China, and even South Korea actually stan but Japan is a different story. They are so fickle and I fear Rihanna's music is far to dark, and unappealing to Japan's musical landscape for her to ever be huge. Australia can be gained back possibly but heavy promo needs to occur there like during RR -Loud. Japan gets promo but it seems her status doesn't elevate at all.

And you would think with pretty much 80% of her discog being certified Gold in Japan they'd use her more but her image and music isn't well received because it's far different to what they typically like.
And I mean I'd love for Rih to be bigger in Asia like during GGGB but that would require sacrificing her artist integrity to appease that market which is a mess. I'm fine with Gold for most of her albums. She focuses far less on Asia than any of her contemporaries anyway so it makes sense.

If she did maybe 2 televised performances at the beginning and middle of the era of Diamonds then, What Now or Jump the album would've did far better since Japan is very receptive to promotion from Foreign Acts of the Western Hemisphere particularly.
UA would have definitely been gold with some promo. TTT only went because of that festival and WFL performance.
She wouldn't need to change her image because AGLM went gold also BUT it had promo. She could simply give them one performance, give them 2 bonus track exclusive to Japan (but not amazing tracks like she did with Cry&Haunted cause ) and cover VOGUE Japan or ELLE Japan or whoever big there.
