Adele, Coldplay, Maroon are all doing great and I love that
Speaking of Mac Miller remix, that won't drop until October in fact. No real search for longevity in the top spot I guess, just a normal step in crossover promotion from a band whose lead singer's got a long tradition with rapping collaborations (since Ying Yang twins).
Anyway this is what Mac Miller told XXL mag:
How does Mac Miller keep accumulating these mainstream looks? As previously reported, the 2011 XXL Freshman is slated to appear on the official remix to Maroon 5′s chart-topping single, "Moves Like Jagger." XXL has lerned the remix is set to impact radio in two weeks and will be released on iTunes on October 4. The guest appearance comes on the heel of Mac appearing on VH1′s hit sitcom, Single Ladies, and Donald Trump recently crowning him the next Eminem. But how did it happen?
"Maroon 5 is ill, very ill," Mac told XXL via e-mail, hours before the Copenhagen stop of his European Tour. "["Moves Like Jagger" producer] Benny [Blanco] reached out to get me on the jam, and to be honest, at first I didn't really believe him. I was like, these dudes could get any rapper they wanted on their jam, why would they want me? However, they were serious. When I was in NY I went to the studio with Benny to do it. We chopped it up for a while, then I just wrote my verses and laid them down. I hadn't spoken with anybody from Maroon 5 or anything at this point. I actually had the feeling that they going to cut my verses and go with someone else."
"I don't know why, the thought of Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera and myself on a jam, I just didn't think it would fly," he continued. "But, I saw Adam Levine was following me on Twitter so I hit him up and thanked him for the opportunity and he said that everyone loved it. **** is ill. I love the jam, the music video to it actually came on when I was writing the verses in the studio. What are the odds? Well, actually pretty high considering it was the No.1 song for a while. --Carl Chery with additional reporting Jesse Gissen
