It was supposed to be Britney’s triumphant return to the VMAs stage. But in scheduling her performance right after Beyoncé, they only exposed her biggest artistic flaws and failings.
When Beyoncé kills a 16-minute recreation of much of Lemonade, nailing every note while dancing her ass off, how can you look at Britney Spears lip-synch her way through a song—often missing the words—and not be a little embarrassed for her?
What about the vmas billboards am over the place, magazine/online articles etc etc etc
Hell even the TV ad is more than enough of a hype machine considering how dramatic it was
It was her first appearance in 9 years, of course they would hype it up a bit. And regardless of the quality of the actual performance (which I think was good for her standards) they know people will be interested to see how well/bad she does up there after her previous fiasco. She was an enormous eyecatcher for the show for years.
