I don't think it would have fit too well on 1991... Although the beat's 8-bit video game feel doesn't quite match her other ocean/seapunk/mermaid tracks on Fantasea, it's definitely still more in that breezy summery vein than the house aesthetic of 1991. But then again, "breezy" and "summery" also do describe Liquorice, don't they... I dunno!
As for the track itself, I honestly think it's genius and love it just the way it is. I mean, as it is, it's not my favorite track of hers and so I guess in theory perhaps there's a version in some alternate universe I'd like more, but… she pulls off the repetition of the verses so well, I think it simply stands as a testament to how unique her approach to rap can be.
I originally also thought it was too long, but now I just can't get enough of how the monotonous flow and rhyme scheme actually wear me down over the course of the track until I swear I've entered some strange Li’l Bambi headspace I never want to leave! It's hard to explain. But I definitely think it's one of her freshest and most inventive songs and it has me SO pumped for the potential of Fantasea II.
