No one said she's a homophobe. But everything you said in your post is just more of a reason why what she said is even more embarrassing. If she was a true LGBT activist like she tries to portray, she would know the role the Reagans really had, especially when she's also a political figure.

I've never brought it up but that is true

I wouldn't say she's a homophobe because of that though. But her support for the LGBT community does feel less genuine because of that (given how she felt that up until very recently), imo at least.

For someone in her position, yes. A huge political figure, a former First Lady herself, etc. She should at least know the basic history of the government's relationship with HIV/AIDS.
