People on 4chan brought up an interesting point regarding the anime.
The anime is still a big (if not their biggest) marketing tool and looking at how it is progressing currently it doesn't seem very likely that the Zygarde stuff, Team Flare, 8th Gym and league will be done by the time SM come out (until december it's 28 episodes if nothing gets canceled due to holidays or stuff) . So a series that promote SM wouldn't come out for the launch unless there isn't mean to be one since it still ties into kalos.
