Bed of Lies is not a bad song, but it falls flat in so many ways. The most disappointing thing about this song is that it is nothing that we have not already seen from Nicki Minaj before. It could easily replace any bonus track from 'Pink Friday' and it would fit in. The rap verse, followed by a generic female pop hook has become very stale and repetitive due to its over-saturation on radio this year. Nicki's desperation to make her verses seem deep comes off as forced and it really highlights how there has been no musical growth from 2010's Pink Friday debut to now.

Bed of lies is a single which unfortunately falls flat for me. The songs only redeeming quality is Skylar's vocal and lyrical performance. However, with this being a Nicki-lead song, it's rather saddening to think she has been outshone by her hook vocalist so comfortably. This comes across as an inferior version of Pills N Potions 2.0 (and keep in mind, I enjoyed Pills N Potions). My prospects for The Pink Print are looking slimmer and slimmer by each release

This song is just very "eh". Skylar hooks are the highlight of the song, but that goes for any song she is featured on. Nicki's rapping is a very Nicki rap... aka- something I've heard before, but the song is endearing nonetheless. The music slays and it's probably gonna slay when she plays at her concert. So... nothing bad, but nothing amazing. My hype for the album is just kinda neutral after this. I was never super excited, and this song hasn't changed anything.

Bed Of Lies is marked as the 4th (3rd if you count the dual release with Only) single from Nicki Minaj's upcoming album, The Pinkprint. Out of all of the singles released for this album, Anaconda is going to be my favorite, but Bed Of Lies is slowing coming for Anaconda's wig, in my personal favorites. To me, this is one of the deepest songs that Nicki has written. Someone stated that the deepness comes off as forced, and I questioned some things. Are you saying real heartbreak is something that doesn't exist? Is that forced also? Aside from that, I remember watching the EMA's seeing Nicki grace the stage and perform one of her biggest hits, Super Bass, before she spun into the preview of this song. Needless to say, I was shocked. I remember Nicki saying she would perform a new single at the EMA's, but I was definitely not expecting this. Great job Nicki, I love this one.

Nicki Minaj (feat. Skylar Grey) - Bed Of Lies

1 minute 30 seconds. That's the amount of time Nicki Minaj is featured on her new single, but it feels like much less time, she's checked out on her own single. Perhaps it's for the best that Nicki distance herself from the song (search Nicki Minaj on Spotify and scroll down, you'll see Bed Of Lies credited to Skylar Grey only) because the drippy and overly saccharine chorus provided by rent-a-hook singer Skylar Grey is one of the sappiest put to record this year. Maybe the record companies are taking advantage of Nicki's hype and influence to try and push lesser known artists (Skylar Grey, Jessie J), but it's definitely diluting the impact of Nicki's singles.

Skylar's chorus is too reminiscent of her writing for "Love The Way You Lie" with Eminem or her hook on Dr. Dre's "I Need A Doctor," to bring anything new that doesn't feel like a retread of her work. Not to mention the use of autotune that immediately makes the chorus an exact soundalike to Eminem's Nate Ruess featuring "Headlights". It's a shame the song is let down by the lack of Nicki, because sonically and lyrically, it's almost the flipside to Pills N Potions. Where Pills N Potions was a reflecting and calming little ray of sunshine that finds Nicki declaring: "Pills N Potions, we're overdosing, I'm angry but I still love you." She's now saying she's overdosing on her own, and "man you got me poppin' pills in it." The sunniness of Pills N Potions is all but gone, lost in the chill of "Bed Of Lies" Still, as good as Nicki's parts are, "Bed Of Lies" is let down by its poor chorus and lack of Nicki.

Nicki Minaj (ft. Skylar Grey) - Bed Of Lies

"Bed Of Lies" is the fourth single from Nicki's new album "The Pinkprint" and confirms what everyone already speculated: the fact that Nicki is completely lost as an artist.With her four singles Nicki has tried to cater to every audience possible: she's tried purer pop, pop/urban crossovers and traight up hip hop all in hopes one would stick but nothing did. She has found some success with her singles but nothing helped her to further herself as a rapper or pop star.

Musically "Bed Of Lies" is a completely generic pop hook with average sounding hip hop verses. The lyrics seem sincere but are awfully uninspired and cliched. Nicki's flow is consistently dull and boring. Overall you can't shake the feeling that you are listening to a "Love The Way You Lie" remake with a less catchy hook and a much worse flow.

Final Say: "Bed Of Lies" is another misstep for Nicki that doesn't allow her to show off her true rapping talents and it lowers the expectation for "The Pinkprint" even more. One can only hope that there will be some songs on her next album like "Looking ass *****" where she focuses on nothing but her talent and not on all the expectations everyone has for her that she can never fullfil no matter how well she tries to balance pop and hip hop

Bed Of Lies is Nicki Minaj's fourth single from her upcoming album The Pinkprint. All four singles are extremely different and it makes me worried about the cohesiveness of the album since we've already heard a third of it. And this song is by far my least favorite of them.
Bed Of Lies features Skylar Grey who sings the chorus. Skylar is a great songwriter but I've never been a fan of her vocals except in Shot Me Down by David Guetta. A song about a lying and cheating boyfriend needs lots of emotion to pull you in and Skylar just doesn't have the voice for it.
Nicki verses are also very weak and predictable. Her flow doesn't slay me this time and her rhymes are elementary.
This song could've been saved by an outstanding instrumental but it's very generic and the piano isn't good at all.
Overall this song just bores me and as a Nicki Minaj fan, I expected more from her. This would've been cute as an album track.
