Ew, not Luke too. I can see why it was scrapped. I prefer Max/Savan/Ali/Ilya's sound for Tinashe than Max/Luke/Cirkut/Benny anyway.

Radio is ALL about reputation. If Z100 plays your song yet it goes nowhere, radio programmers take note. That's why I'm scared. I'm not scared for Superlove. I'm scared for Tinashe. The same happened to her on rhythmic. AHOD and Player received massive support but fell flat, so now Superlove is struggling. There are other factors to that of course, but still.
I'll still support her anyway, so whatever.

Are we really going to act like if payola was used that that isn't a good thing, especially when they weren't putting up anything for her at all, not even an ounce of true effort?
Everything Gustavo has said is perfect but we all know this song wasn't going to be anything major. I knew from the second Rhythmic didn't even want to pick it up. At the end of the day, we're just trying to get some kind of attention, radio play and movement so we can get this album out.

The fact that they're using payola / connections is a GREAT thing and she's earned it since they jeopardized her career.
The fact that it had no results is bad and makes the song's poor performance even worse, cause they did push it this time
But discussing it won't solve anything right now. And I don't want to be too annoying about it, so I'll give it a rest. I'll just wait for whatever comes next, hoping that they'll come correct.

Z100 clearly isn't given the song push. They should stop trying to get a hit and release the album. Also her releasing songs early on soundcloud really messed things up for her and now the era has produced 5 or so songs that we heard. Move on from Superlove or scrap and start fresh with a properly planned era.

Maybe she needs a songwriter as co-writer and leave the producers, just as that, producers. I feel her label needs to stop putting coins in big names like the Max Martin camp and Tricky and The Dream and actually work on good material. There are so many unknown and less known producers who serve quality and commercial value, without it turning out in the direction she goes currently.

I agree. The-Dream/Tricky are clearly past their prime... unless they had an undeniable smash idk why RCA would want them to work with her

Also, her last official pop single (Player) did go top 40, and she build a good relationship with this big radio stations since All Hands On Deck, remember all that "random" events that she did since then.
She did work with Bobby Brackins for the album, we even had some snippets some months ago. I agree that her recent songs (especially when it comes to catchy chorus) aren't strong enough, but the fact that she released two of the three The-Dream produced songs for the album sounds weird to me. I think that she have better material saved for the album, so I just hope that Superlove, Company or whatever be successful enough to get this album out. And start with a fresh and solid direction next time, not only on the creative board, but on the logistics too. We all deserves to have this album out.

The first paragraph makes me upset. If the material was better she would definitely have support. I really feel like the music is the issue here. Finding a smash shouldn't be this difficult. I'm sure they could find one on their own, but if she wants to be involved with the writing process it changes a lot. She has to be able to create hits, or at least partially. It just doesn't make sense that you would release songs like Superlove/Company as if they're obvious smashes. At this point I don't know why they don't drop the album, unless they do a complete 180 in terms of strategy, a top 40 hit isn't coming. Continuing to release dated songs, or songs with no hook, as a means of getting out the album makes no sense

I've been thinking about this for awhile but I feel like this song was a step back from Player when it comes to hit potential.

They should just put out the album next month. End it all. Release the album and also a mixtape to get everyone's attention. Pushing this back over and over isn't going to do anything.

Until tinashe gets really strong material (a real banger)and not the mediocre bottom of the stack dated mess her position well not change and joyride will continue to be on her lap top.

It's sad. They're finally pushing this on big stations, but the timing wasn't right again. The hype that she got with the video is already dead. The only thing that can bring some attention again to the song is a performance (on a relevant TV show) or maybe a remix featuring someone cool, like Nicki.

So what is the point of RCA still keeping her if they don't want to release her records? The Dream & Tricky aren't giving her strong material so how do they expect her to get a hit? And even if she gets a hit, it's not like the album will perform well anyway because a hit does not guarantee good album sales these days.
She really needs a new label. This is a disaster from start to finish, it's really sad.

Nah.
Those are two melodies...I wouldn't necessarily call them hooks though lol. Basically, I'm saying those melodies aren't interesting enough to stick in people's heads.

And a strong hook can survive WITHOUT the beat, honestly. I don't hear that for "Superlove", "Company", "Party Favors", or "Player". Listen to the acapella, can you HONESTLY say those "hooks" sound good WITHOUT the beat?

She worked with illangelo, stargate/bloodpop & has another song with wolf cousins who did player but yet she's releasing the dream/tricky stuff :/. Not to forget they sold fearless which could've easily EASILY been her hit
She's caught the sophomore era curse, the Weeknd had the same thing with kiss land & the issue wasn't promo but the music.... Afraid to say it's the same thing we're experiencing here.
Let's just pray joyride is acclaimed atleast

To work with folks like Tricky & The-Dream she probably had to sign something promising to release the tracks that they produced. That's very common in the industry with super producers and hit-makers.
As for an acclaimed album...I can't see how that would be possible if half of this material that she has released is on it.

I was gonna say this. The contract for working with them probably guaranteed them her next 2 singles. Hence, SL and Company. Def business move from RCA. Probably why she was slated to release Player first as well (a similar deal w/ Max Martin's camp).
It's crazy that we've heard so many "Joyride" songs, but she still has songs with PartyNextDoor, Timbaland, Dev Hynes, Boi-1-da, another Metro Boomin track, illAngelo, another Dream/Tricky + more on the way.
Hopefully Player, PF & maybe Energy wind up as deluxe tracks to make way for alot of these newer songs.
