Well, pre impact but to make it as single now no. Maybe in February.

If she's gonna release TNISY I'm gonna be so f***ing mad. First you do all these street songs and put such a focus on lyrical content on the album because you don't want people to discredit you as an MC, then instead of releasing a radio-friendly urban song like Feeling Myself or Truffle Butter, that are both catchy hits + showcase your talent as a MC, you release a song that sounds almost exactly like a Roman Reloaded song?
Nicki... -.-'

Get prepared to get mad.
True. It's CLEAR that the idea of a hip hop classic went away when Anaconda was released.
The direction changed a bit since 2013...unless people really believe she only did 25 songs for the album despite many other producers submitting songs...whatever happened to those pharrell tracks.
Either way, now it's about business. Kid fury and Crissle had the perfect explanation of her album upon their review. It's clear that she didn't put out a hip hop classic so it's about business and making things mix with her image.
She needs urban songs to relate to an audience that will supposedly support her.
She will need a crossover hit or two to appeal to a casual audience.
MIx those and she should do better than a typical rap album but less than a typical crossover era.
The tour is going to be the focal sell point as this might be her most lucrative tour throughout all her past and future eras.
It's timing at this point with her choices.

Actually, I'm not even sure TNISY would be a hit since I think pop radio actually turned its back to Nicki. She wanted to be a rapper again instead of a pop-star, don't go back and forth then.
|
Pop didn't turn its back on Nicki Bang bang was a hit...it's just that Nicki NEEDS a song that appeals to that market but makes her seem like a feature. Pop embraces her more when she either does pop stuff or does urban stuff but feels like a feature. Doing solo stuff that is urban won't work which is why her poppy stuff or songs with features that can secure their own solo and/or feature hits will be the smartest business decisions.

I get it.

At this point it would be illogic to release something other than FM or TB since they are already impacting

True but let's wait until February for a new urban single.

Yep.

I just think she could have done a better & more relevant pop song, instead of TNISY. The theme & content fit the era but the generic 2012 sound does not.
Obviously it'll be a single though so what's even the point anymore?

True.

My guess is yes because it's used as a marketing strategy to drive more album sales and it features urban hit making kings Drake and Wayne (even at his lowest he can rack #1 urban hits).

I agree. While the theme itself is positive, there's also some sort of sadness to the song that I enjoy.

Yeah, it feels like a dream that is going to go wrong any minute.

Arguably TNISY may have the power to bring in more sales internationally and from the pop audience in terms of album sales. I believe it should be given a chance to see if Onika still has the prowess of PopNika and can reap Popnika's benefits in terms of single and album sales. It's always so nice to pull diversity.
|
It also shows that one pinky two is still in pop onika and she's not jumping all in to urban as they too can be just as fickle as pop. Otherwise, all urban acts would secure 3 or 4 hit albums.

"The Night Is Still Young" should've been the pop single instead of "Bed of Lies", and should've been promoted concurrently w/ "Only" instead of this situation where the pop single was delayed until the urban single was done.
Basically, run everything about "Only" the same (except release the video 2 days earlier for that 2nd consecutive top 10), do all the "Bed of Lies" promo for "The Night Is Still Young" instead, and have a commercial for Myx w/ the song on power rotation (like Gaga did w/ "Applause" and KIA). Perform it on Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve, and then premiere the video on the first Monday of 2015.
Btw, can anyone explain why the album got delayed? I'm not too much of a stan, so I may have missed the reason.

Only should have been the bonus track and TB should have been the fall single but it is what it is...
