I think Trump is associated with the violent protesters because he's told them to be violent. They were showing videos of him telling the audience to "beat the crap" out of anyone who tries to throw a tomato on the stage He's apart of the reason all of this happening.
Bernie has never said anything like this. It's unfair, and silly, to act like the violence is apart of his message or something.

I agree it's not a part of his message or anything similar. That's why I think the possibility of this being associated with him could be so damaging, since it's such a contrast to Bernie's usual message. This is why it could turn off casual supporters.

I guess he should say something about it then, but I really don't think voters will see any connection. Trump has given hate/pro-violence speeches in the past. Bernie hasn't. They'd probably think "these college kids are crazy" or something like that and move on.
