Well, Sonya seems like she'd be the type to wear clothes that show more skin simply because she wanted to, rather than just to appeal to men (like a character such as Mileena might do.), so there's a sense of empowerment to it. I never once got **** vibes from Sonya when she wore clothing like she did.
As for Johnny (and I love how I keep forgetting the H. ATRL's impact.), he's a guy.
That, and he was MK1's comic relief. I don't see much problem with him, either.
