johnny: woooo yeah, haha, i'm your host for today. it'll be a great time, because my co-host is trent reznor, who's been busy working on the next nine inch nails album, which coinciding with the first single, they'll be halos 18 and 19…i'm a collector and i have 11 of the 17.
trent: we'll start off with some close calls. here they are.
Close Calls:
35. Amerie, Loon, and Foxy Brown - Too Much For Me
34. Lisa Marie Presley - Sinkin' In
33. Amerie - I'm Coming Out
32. Santana f/ Alex Band - Why Don't You & I?
31. AFI - The Leaving Song (Part II)
johnny: that was afi with "the leaving song (part ii)" which is a far much better song and video than "girl's not grey" i think.
trent: i was impressed by their use of techno/industrial elements, in such songs as "miseria cantare" and "silver and cold," but mostly on "death of seasons." that is an amazing song.
johnny: hell yeah, i love that song. finch also use electronics in their songs, well, most of them. "project mayhem" and "ender" are the main two, and then there's their old demo "the new kid."
30. Isyss - Oh No She Didn't
29. Bowling for Soup - Punk Rock 101
28. Snapcase - A Synthesis of Classic Forms
27. Lumidee - Never Leave You
26. Liz Phair - Why Can't I
johnny: yeah, you've got your snapcase in there, that is one of the best videos i've seen all year. their last one ("coagulate") was also good, very nice videos to watch. that bowling for soup video is great, it's just mocking the entire style of today: "punk rock." i think that'll be the video to end all pop-punk on trl, aside from blink-182 and maybe sum 41.
trent: yes, and speaking of pop-punk, we've got an actually decent one here with "last song," i like the use of keyboards here. same with hot hot heat.
25. All American Rejects - The Last Song
24. Amy Studt - Kick Me
23. Finch - Post Script
22. Maroon 5 - Harder to Breathe
21. Nick Lachey - Shut Up
johnny: alright, that was nick lachey with "shut up" and maroon 5 with "harder to breathe" taking a huge fall. get some votes in for finch, that is their best song IMO, one of the few "punk" bands that's worth listening to.
trent: yeah but now we've got a premiere from a band in johnny's area (houston, tx) that's going to be great to see on video outlets across the country. they've been together since feburary of 1999 and they've come a long way…here's seventh day sky with "season of cold."
Premiere:
Seventh Day Sky, "Season of Cold"
johnny: yeah i've seen it on some other countdowns including my own, but i'd like to see it on here as well. check them out at
http://www.seventhdaysky.com . if you're interested in hearing some songs other than the ones they offer for download, p/m me.
20. Christina Aguilera f/Lil' Kim - Can't Hold Us Down
19. Beyonce f/ Jay Z - Crazy In Love
18. Girls Aloud - No Good Advice
17. Aaliyah - Come Over
16. Thalía f/ Fat Joe - I Want You
trent: it's great to see aaliyah still doing well, believe it or not i really wanted to collaborate with her, it was around the time when "try again" was big. much respect to her.
johnny: yeah i'm also a fan of hers and that would've been cool. it'd definetly shut some people up. well, it's so weird seeing the rule of retirement here, some videos can last 80, 90, even 100 days. but this one lasted 65. here's play with "i must not chase the boys" for the very last time at #15.
15. Play - I Must Not Chase The Boys
trent: we've got them on the phones right now. congrats on your video retirement thing, i'm sure there's some people you'd wanna thank.
play: yeah we just want to thank the fans for voting us to #1 a few times and keeping us on here long enough to be retired. we have a new song out called "whole again" and i hope it does the same. once again, thanks.
johnny: alright, here's the rest of #15-#11.
14. Rachel Farris - I'm Not The Girl
13. Skye Sweetnam - Billy S
12. Lillix - It's About Time
11. Hilary Duff - So Yesterday
…
10. 311 - Creatures (For A While)
09. Mya - My Love Is Like...Whoa
08. Nelly, P. Diddy, and Murphy Lee - Shake Ya Tailfeather
07. Stacie Orrico - (There's Gotta Be) More To Life
06. Jessica Simpson - The Sweetest Sin
trent: that was 311 at #10, making it their first time in the top ten.
johnny: and right now we've got the last of it all, with the band whos music is my life, and have meant so much to me ever since 5th grade - the almighty korn, at #1 for the first time, beating their #2 peak.
05. Kelly Clarkson - Low
04. Ashanti - Rock Wit U
03. Evanescence - Going Under
02. Michelle Branch - Are You Happy Now?
01. KoRn - Did My Time
trent: hmm…well the show's over, we sure had fun mixing up the countdown with some good rock videos.

00. In Flames - Trigger
